nfb
Just wondered what seasoned supporters think about Ben Davies, NC pursued him for a while before 'getting his man' for another 'undisclosed fee'...(seem to be a lot of those ? ) I dont get to lots of games, living in the south and working saturdays but i am going to QPR From what ive seen and heard, he seems slow, basic and not the 'specialist' NC talked about ? Is he another misjudgement for what sounds like around 300/400k more than we got for Commons ?,
GboroRam
Commons was walking away and any return on him was a bonus. Davies wasn't a replacement, more a case of the only option Clough had in the price range he could afford. Blame that on the lack of cash, lack of ambition or lack of good scouting links as you will...
Ricko Ram
I wish we had kept Commons, as he was a far better player, but I am sure Ben fits in more with the wage packet/caliber or player we will be aiming for over the next season or 5.
nfb
I realise Commons was on his way, my comparison was merely to illustrate what u can get for the money... with some shrewd shopping, with a few exceptions something there doesnt seem to be at DCFC. Briggsy
So that's £175k per free kick so far. Amazing value for money right there.

Ambitious
I genuinely don't see what everyone's problem is? to me he looks a good player, not very quick.. fair enough but for all round ability he is a lot better than others in our squad on bigger wages and brought for bigger fee's. he is a tidy player, he can produce goals.. he has proved that one more than one occasion in his career. Ive got an idea instead of be-rating players before they have had a proper chance, why don't we encourage.. It might sound stupid but apparently players with confidence and fans support perform better than one's without confidence and boo'd.

Totally agree, some players take time to settle, may be next season before we see the best of him.
Subman
LOL. What a goal he just scored, maybe he's 'one for the future' but back to the discussion...... Yep, blooming great goal. Can't wait to see it again and he was well up for it in the 2nd half. Up the rams!
MrsRam
Cracking goal - I'm glad he's scored, maybe he can settle now and maybe folk can get off his back.
rsmini
We had a Notts County fan sat near us in East Upper, and he said he scored goals like that all time for them
p.shilton
I think he has done well since he came back into the team and seems to be putting himself about a lot more- maybe he has had the time too settle in that he needed, made a goal Sat and scored one today (should have scored 2 though!). nfb
I think people are on his back because NC pursued him so hard and then paid what for us at the time,a biggish fee... So people had 'expectations', and for the most part they wern't realised.... Like i said in my original post, i havent seen the lad play, and wondered what u all felt, ironic that on the eve of my question about him, he puts in a very decent shift..... It was a decent all round performance it seems last night, and maybe the fact that we're almost safe(tecnically we arnt) we can play with more freedom and confidence, cant wait to see how he and the boys do in person at QPR. Stive Pesley
I like Ben Davies and without getting into a deep debate about his pro’s and cons, I wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed the same thing as me. When he gets to the byline, it always feels like he is making no attempt to cross the ball into the box – it’s like his primary aim is to leather it into the legs of the covering defender – hoping to win a corner. The more games I see him play, the more I’m convinced I’m right. He takes a good corner, and at least we have some players in the box, so it’s not necessarily a bad tactic but it just feels wrong

bcnram
What I like about Ben Davies apart from his work-rate is that he always tries to make a pass. You will rarely see him with just an aimless ball. He will pass and put himself in a position to receive it back. Clearly he has some limitations or he would not be playing in this league.
