Agreed we have always been a big club.

Agreed we have BEEN a big club but if you look at the last ten years or so we have been nothing but average weather that's the playing/coaching staff or even the board. Something hasn't clicked right to keep us constantly capable of competing look at the likes of Newcastle Sunderland Leeds etc always capable and not afraid to splash the cash on quality players who are proven.

Spot on, we are an average club, we are a mid-table Championship club, in the past 10 years or so we have finished in the playoffs twice, everything else tends to be the bottom half of the table.

I hate reading people going on about we have a good fanbase yet we should be a big club. I think it's more along the lines of our fans are great in wanting to turn up every week instead of only turning up when the teams doing well. Derby is all about football, and we have 1 team, so its going to be supported by people in the city and all over the county so we are always going to have a good support.

I see us to be similar to Norwich, always get above a certain number attendane wise no matter what but it doesn't mean we belong in the Premiership and it doesn't put us in a group of 'feared' clubs

Well if you think we're like Norwich, then open your eyes, our team is nothing like theirs, they're going for promotion!

As for you EdinburghRam, I'm fully aware we're in the loan window, but we can offer more in wages and get a better quality of player in.

Getting rejects from PNE is ridiculous, offer the wages and we will get someone to score goals. Clough is totally hopeless, he should be insisting on a bigger budget, kick up a fuss just like BD does down the road.

Clough has said numerous times that money isn't the issue, it's finding the right type of players. We also have to find players that will want to come here in the current situation. Just give him and Ward a chance, Hayes hasn't even signed yet and your writing him off.

As for him being a PNE reject, Paul Jewell was a Derby reject, does that make him a bad manager? No of course it doesn't, sometimes it just doesn't work out for people at a certain club

That would of made your point to be fair.

Lets hope he is good ey

"We are engaged in talks with Preston to bring striker Paul Hayes in on loan," Clough confirmed.

"Hopefully those negotiations can be completed in time for Tuesday.

"And we are also talking to another striker so maybe we can push the boat out and bring in two."

I wonder who is it... hope it's not Boulding.

Dont think it would take to much talking to get Boulding to sign - offer him £200 a match with a £500 a goal bonus and I reckon he would snap your ahns off seeing how long hes been out of the game.

Speaking about gaol bonusses Fashanu got £5k a goal bonus at Wimbledon, but lost £2k for every missed chance. Just found this

ERIC HALL

ONLY SHOOT IF YOU CAN SCORE

When John Fashanu signed his first contract with Wimbledon, I wanted to include a clause whereby every time he scored a goal he got pounds 5,000. Sam Hammam came back and said: "OK, but every time he misses a goal, I take pounds 2,000 out of his wages." I thought it was risky: if John missed three chances he'd be six grand in debt. I did agree to it... but I told John: "Look old son, only try to score a goal if you are 100 per cent sure that you can. If in doubt, leave it out."

from http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/vox-pop-what-is-the-most-curious-clause-agents-can-recall-in-a-football-contract-1111491.html

A great way to focus the Strikers attention to his job.

Was at Deepdale today for Preston's game against QPR. Paul Hayes came off the bench with about 40 minutes left. He seems a little overweight and unfit but wins a fair amount of headers and has a good first touch, he could be an ideal partner for Jamie Ward. Preston definitely improved when he came on but it seems he isn't exactly popular with the PNE fans getting some abuse. I'm not sure why Phil Brown would let him go as he is miles better than Eddie Johnson who was unspeakably rubbish.

Porter has been unlucky with injuries. We have been unlucky with injuries.

Steven Davies has been very unlucky, but has been given a year extension. Why not Porter. Can't see it mind, his hip mystery will make up Derbys mind for them,.

I think Davies got a bit extra because he put the effort to get fit quickly from his last injury, and recovered quicker than expected.

Porter however was still injured even after the specialist said his Bursa had healed and there was nothing wrong.
