students dilemma

Dangerous

Recommended Posts

There was a special report on Newsnight with these four kids saying they were from the slums of London, and saying that if Uni and EMA is cut what will keep them from dealing drugs?

Absolute *****. Just summarises what's wrong with New Labour's Britain, making as if there's some sort of legitimate excuse for kids to be in gangs dealing drugs.:mad:

I saw that too, Joe - it made me feel angry too and I started shouting at the telly.:mad:

It makes you wonder what sort of people we've got in this country if not going to uni might make them go down the drug route....

Uttox is right - get them into putting a full time working week in, give them a decent wage and see what happens.

These ****** are the type who give dedicated students a bad name.

It suits the government to have us moaning at each other instead of at the ones who COULD change society.

but from the point of view of the government, where can we get 'x amount' of money from without pissing the general public off and potentially creating huge masses of protest, the decision makers weren't stupid they knew how the students were going to act and they knew the general public would vote against them rather than with them...

nail on the head!

The police should now get a water cannon, instead of the kettling. They should have a complete no nonsense approach.

Yep, students protesting bad, f*cking water cannons good. I've read it all now, what utter, utter sh*te.

Why not, let's go back to 60's f*cking segregated America. That has to be the daftest, most ill-thought out post I've read on a forum. Clueless.

I didnt make my statement against all students.

If there are any protests that should be had,it should be against rising petrol prices, and rising energy bills.Truly criminal, and affect a damn sight more people than tuition fees for the privilaged.

But the working public are too busy working to do anything about it.

The students have lost the vote and now should get on with what they are supposed to be doing....studying,but no,they are going to "protest again".For gods sake.

The police should now get a water cannon, instead of the kettling. They should have a complete no nonsense approach.

Yes you did..... and now if the 99% of students who protested peacefully, want to protest peacefully again (which is their right), they should be fired at with a water cannon. TOOL.

I'd happily release a water cannon on students a) climbing all over the cenotaphe b) defacing Winston Churchill's statue - and any others for that matter c) causing criminal damage.

The ones doing these things do themselves no favours.

if 99% of the students wanted to protest peacefully why didnt they overpower the 1% of ******?

Im sick to death of these stupid protests. When these people start contributing to society they can moan, until then shut up.It is an excuse for a day out for a lot of them.

As for a water cannon....why not,if thats what it takes to get them to clear off?

If a group of louts were outside my house defacing it,and smashing windows I would expect the police to use whatever force neccessary to get rid of them.

These ******,whether students or not are breaking the law!!

If you idiots want to keep blaming anybody who wears a suit for your meagre problems you do it,but keep off our streets.

Either get on with your studies ( a privilage, not a right) or get a job!

You sir are the tool, and as for you wilko it is good to see youre consistant.Youre still the annoying kid that you were on the DET.

Many of them did try to stop the ******, did you not see the policeman who was attacked by a large group of protesters while caught alone? There were alot of students trying to stop that from happening, shoving their way through to help him.

People have a right to protest Dangerous, whether you like it or not. These things always happen, it's just that this time the youth of today have been lied to by the Lib Dems and they are angry about it.

I am not condoning the violence in anyway, but to tell them to just shut up and get on with things? Absoloute bullshit, if they want to protest they have every right to.

The ****** who defaced Winston Churchills statue are a minority and rightly deserve the crap kicking out of them for doing so. Do not brand them as all the same.

The same thing happened with the G8 protests last year, and it was blamed on them. Ever thought the Police do themselves no favours? This all got so out of hand due to the poor policing on the first protest. They were far too heavy handed, and people who weren't students went out on the next ones just to get some revenge.

Says it all really.... i just hope you don't think your contributing to society by the tosh you are writing.

Most of them will end up paying more tax than you anyway..... so who really has more of a right here?

How the f*ck is education a privilege and not a right?

So you're saying that no money means no right to an education?

You've not got a clue. You're living in the past.

Thank God that you're not in power.

Times have changed now, in my day HE was a privelege, it wasn't a right. Only the rich kids were given the chance. I'm all for the poorer folk getting a chance to go because from my experience some of them had more talent than the ones who saw it as a natural right of passage - and there were some who thought this.

My olds couldn't afford it, it was as simple as that. We left school on the Friday and started work the Monday. A full time 40 hour a week shift I did for £29.50, rising to £35 after one year. We didn't have a choice, we had to do it and pay £15 a week board out of it too. Not to mention bus fares, clothes and the rest of it.

As for the higher tax bracket - in some cases they will pay more than a lot of others. My hub went to uni, but the job he got didnt need a degree to get. He pays more tax than most, 3 times a month more than I earn, and this is because he has worked hard and not because he went to Uni.

There a loads of people who left school with naff all (Richard Branson did I believe) but pulled himself up with his boot strings. Other people do the same, start at the bottom and work their way up without setting foot near a uni

There are loads that went to Uni and end up in jobs that don't pay that well too.

I know a few graduates with degrees who aren't even able to find a job too. It's hard for them but what can anybody do about it? There are times it seems that even having a degree doesn't get you very far.

People will always have a divided opinion about this whole subject I think.

All I know is politicians have pulled the rug out from under more people over the years - look at the miners! - now that was a hardship to live through. It happens loads of times, all anyone can do is tow the line.

It's bad on the students, yes it is - but when it comes to stuff costing more, we're all in the same boat. The good thing is at least loads of students don't have a mortgage to worry about, or kids to feed.

Good luck to you all, hope everything works out for you in the coming years. :)

ive never read such rubbish. We dont like going on strike,as we dont get paid when we are off,and we dont enjoy the disruption it causes.

We do post in the snow, last week the deliveries were suspended because of ridiculous health and safety rules implemented by the management, not the postmen. We wanted to deliver.

We dont post if the dog is in the garden, and with good reason.I have been bitten three times by dogs that"wont hurt you,he only wants to play".To accuse us of theft is quite damning and pathetic. As for the gate,if its closed when I get there I will close it after,if its open it stays open.Dont post if the union says so? that doesnt make sense.Dont post anything good?? thats my fault is it?

When we have issues with our employers we do things the correct way, strikes are the last resort. We dont go on numerous protests in the capital, smashing anything made of glass, urinating on statues of historical greats and swinging off the cenotaph. We dont involve the socialist worker and we dont run a huge bill up for the taxpayer to pay.[

I suggest you all have a look at this before you find you have'nt got a postie to moan about....I've signed the petition.http://www.keepthepostpublic.org.uk/
