saljet
hi all lets try this then..we have had some brilliant keepers over the years..so who was the best
uttoxram75
Colin Boulton for me - totally unflappable and supremely consistent.
Hucknall Ram
That's it isn't it consistent. Poom, hoult, camp, grant and bywater have all had a "great season", Colin and shilts were before my time, 1st keeper I remember was Martin Taylor

rezner
Colin Boulton followed closely by Shilts I did think Martin Taylor would have been up there if not for the injury.

He had the making of an excellent keeper. His penalty saving record was amazing.

uttoxram75
Shilton, end of... Don't agree. Shilts was a better keeper than Boulton but not when judged on his time at Derby. Playing for Derby, over a good few seasons, Boulton was better than Shilton. Fact. End of. IMO.
Derby_Dave
shall I close the thread? Well no one has made any reference to the Nazis yet....Oh wait!!
ramsrock
Colin Boulton for me, just so reliable, although Les Green was outstanding for a couple of seasons. Have to say Frank Fielding looks as though he could be a real top notch goalkeeper though..
Donny Ram
shall I close the thread? Obviously wants to debate with himself, no mass debating here then, or maybe there is.!
ramsbottom
Are you not paying attention Vernak said "end of". Glad to see someone actually pays attention to my posts occasionally Spank I still stand by Shilts as he was rock solid for most of the time he was with us. If it wasn't for him the relegation from the old first division could've been a lot worse...

Obi1Kenobi0
Only basing this on who I have actually seen play. 1) Shilton followed closely by Poom. Agree though that Martin Tayler surely would have gone on to bigger and better things if it wasn't for the injury. On a side topic we all remember the great goals but not always the great saves keepers make. Any stick in the mind both Derby and non-Derby. The best I saw was in the 1996 Champions League, Peter Schmeichel by denying Rapid Vienna's Rene Wagner of a goal from a header. A bit like the Bank's save only better IMO. As for the memorable saves...remember Newcastle away where Shilton made 30,000,000 world class saves to get us a point I think. awesome.
