When he took the Carlisle job, Simmo and his wife sold their house in Hollington and moved back up there. He was born there and in his first stint as manager, he took them back into the EFL after they had been relegated to the Conference and he is regarded as a Carlisle legend. When they lived down here the Derby fans were always friendly but when they went out socially they always respected the couple's privacy.
