Comparison with 1985/86 Div 3 promotion season - game by game

In 1985/86, games 29,30 & 31 were all at home.

3 - 1 win against Walsall, 1 - 1 draw with Darlington & a 2 - 0 win against Bristol City

This put us on 63 points, 6 ahead of our current total but we were about to hit a bit of a wall over the next 4 games as our fixture backlog began to catch up with us

In 1984/85 , game 29 was a 1 - 1 home draw with Rotherham, then game 30 was a 2 - 0 home win against Walsall followed by game 31 which was a 3 - 2 away defeat at Hull City  who were to gain automatic promotion.

That put us 43 points, 14 behind our current total

Sheff Weds and Plymouth have only dropped 17 PTS and 20 PTS all season I cannot see them dropping another 11 PTS from the remaining 15 games. So yes it's 3rd again for me.

Now it's a case now of winning the play offs and on the day can beat anyone in this league.

Blimey memories

I should have got married that day but I had called the wedding off 3 weeks before (went down like a lead balloon)

Remember going to the match with my mates and my late brother (RIP Steve ) WE used to drink in the Peartree and the British Legion Normanton before the games in those days

Just getting ready to catch the train to Barnsley

I`ll be reminiscing about those carefree days now

In 1985/86, game 32 was a 4 - 1 away defeat at Plymouth Argyle who were some places below us at the time. However, an amazing run of results saw them end the season in 2nd place

In 1984/85, game 32 was a 2-0 home win against Preston North End
