Looking forward to next season…

The team as it stands…

Harry Came
Luis Reece
Brooke Guest
Wayne Madsen
David Lloyd (C)
Matt Lamb
Anuj Dal
Zak Chappell
Mohammad Amir
Sam Conners
Pat Brown

Obviously room for another overseas, and we currently don’t have a spinner.

Ben Aitchison is the only other notable player I can see that is still contracted for next season.

A couple of pathway project players to keep an eye on are Yousaf bin Naeem and Harry Moore. Both have impressed playing in the ECB super fours playing for the Midlands team - particularly bin Naeem who looks a player. Hoping he gets a run out during the one day cup.

On the radio last night Mickey Arthur also said that they'd be bring in a top level batsman to replace Du Plooy.

Wickets tumbling all across the country, meanwhile at the County Ground 😬

Need to prepare the pitch for an equal battle between bat and ball….these batter friendly pitches on the whole don’t make for good cricket. In terms of next season, Patel as a spinner/all rounder would be good 😊

They seem to be leaving more and more grass on the pitch each game to try and spice it up, but it’s not making much difference. Some very ordinary bowling hasn’t helped either.

Amir signed as an overseas player for the first half of next season. Wonder if they are hoping he will have his citizenship for the second half? No idea how that all works to be honest.

This is the guy who bowled a couple of deliberate no-balls in a test at Lords. I was actually there when it happened, although we had no idea at the time. You can't see no-balls from the stands, at ground leven, behind the wicket! My mate pointed out that the score had gone up by one so we assumed there'd been a no-ball, never realising the eventual implications.

Seems a changed character but it was reported at the time that he was from a poor famliy in some village and the few thousand quid he was offered was life-changing. Who are we to judge.

Good luck to him, hope he socks it to 'em.

Yeah think he was 18 at the time, which is why he was looked upon more favourably than the captain (Salman Butt) and more experienced bowler (Mohammad Asif). Not sure either of them ever played again.

408-6 at close.

500 seems to be a par score at Derby at the moment. Batting last and hoping for a generous declaration seems to be the best hope of a win.

I enjoy going to all forms of cricket (except the 100) but the county championship games at Derby are an hard watch at the minute  the balance isn’t right between bat & ball. Luckily I know enough people down there to talk crap with and say how much better it was in my day when Fred Trueman used to bowl 500 overs a day without a break 😀

I don't mind when it's Derbyshire piling on the runs 😂 but yeah it's not great. Scores of 250-300 make for a much more interesting game.

Our bowling hasn't been great this season, which doesn't help either. There’s also been some odd decisions like not letting Scrimshaw near the new ball and barely bowling Thomson today.

We bowled 22 overs today before scrimshaw came on he’s supposed to be a strike bowler, when he did bowl I thought he was bowling to much short stuff also someone in the members lounge told me Scrimshaw is off to Northamptonshire next season don’t know if it’s been mentioned elsewhere

I caught the back end of Fletch talking about Scrimshaw possibly leaving on commentary. It's something I was expecting to happen.

How many 4s go to vacant third man before we react and put a 3rd man in…totally ridiculous. We must have conceded over 100 runs 🙄

Yeah if we cant take wickets, we need to slow the scoring rate, it seems every game the opposition are flying along at close to 5 an over. We can't even bowl tight to try and force a mistake.

Glamorgan have declared at 500 and plenty. Now we have to match them and see if they want to set up a run chase.
