He's right to not change it. We were defending as a unit so why unsettle the side

Colin can hold up the ball & invite fouls. Also he's excellent in the air and if we conceded a corner or free kick in the last 10 min id rather he was back defending it

I mean I can see Rooney’s side of things to some extent. We’ve left ourselves with absolutely no squad depth, so most of the bench is a load of kids who aren’t ready for first team action yet. And the remaining players are those who have generally performed poorly this season given then chance, like Sibley and Waghorn. The drop off in quality is quite significant, so you can somewhat understand the reluctance to change things, especially when we’re doing well.

But Wayne really does need to start thinking about fitness as well. There’s no point having your best players out there if they’re so tired that they’re only performing to 50% of their capacity. Sometimes fresh legs can improve you in terms of energy levels, even if the individual quality is lower. We’ve conceded a lot of late goals this season, and much of that can be attributed to both managers reluctance to make substitutes, leaving us vulnerable to counter attacks. Obviously improving squad depth is vital and will go some way to solving the issue, but Rooney needs to use what he’s got more. If nothing else, playing tired players will increase the risk of injury, especially considering the tight fixture schedule. You saw Kazim-Richards today, he was done around 70 minutes and should have been replaced. We’re lucky he didn’t get injured.
