I think you will be very, very hard pushed to find any player with remotely the same record, top scorer with three different teams.

Bye the bye, good job Tim Ward did not have the same idea about lower league strikers :D

Same old smiffy.

If Clough and his scouts looked at ALF and decided he was as good as Kevin Hector, I think they'd probably move for him, don't you me owd?

Maybe they havent got the money to move for him ?

And what is our record on lower league signings ?

Well, out of the 4th division, from memory we've got:

Moxey - £400k did a reasonable job and moved on for what we paid.

Brayford - £400k, ever present POTY

Bailey - £400k, regular choice.

From the 3rd division:

Martin - £150k, disaster (so far).

Ben Davies - £350k, poor start last season, turned it around, regular choice.

Non-leaguers like Buxton and Pringle or cover Gk's who did a job without letting anyone down for effort or costing us a bomb.

Pretty good record I'd say. If we're damning Clough for not picking up the new Messi from Barnet reserves I think we're losing the plot a bit.

I think ALF would be worth a punt for 500-750k, his record speaks for itself and the reason he has only scored at that level is because no-one has taken a gamble on the lad. I think he would be worth a go and see what happens.

Why has no-one taken a gamble on the (nearly 25 year old) lad, given his goalscoring record? Best guess is there's a piece of his jigsaw missing.

So you have given me two, not really proving your point, as you said Moxey has moved on becuase he did not progess, and Martin is a disaster. Davies has had some good games and may well be a regular.

Pretty sure he passed on Billy Sharp because he didnt think he was worth the money at the time ?

Its not a pretty good record, and he also worked with Brayford so that wasnt a player picked from "scouting".

Im not knocking Clough, but I cant see where you base that we have unearthed all these gems and this player will not cut it because we are not in for him ?

If I think there is, there is,sunshine

What are you sad about? That we've bought alot of players in the summer already? Or that we've won 4 out of 4? Or that we're in second place?

Maybe you're just a massive LeFondre fan, in which case - sad times indeed if we don't sign him, eh.

I'm sad for all you suckers that fell for Glicks spin , again, they have spent zilch new money, even some kid with a D minus

in math can see that .

Who cares? We're winning games and the new signings are working so far. Bloody he'll, would you rather we had spent millions and were bottom? Cheer up.

So explain what you mean by 'you will be happy if the bubble bursts'. Paraphrasing of course.
Meaning life for me does not begin and end with Derby County.

If it does for you then you are the sad f**Ker.

Maybe you would have understood better if I had put the word "still" in between will and be.

I assume you don't go anymore? If not, wise decision. If you are still finding reasons to have a whinge, there's absolutely no hope for you, but please don't call other people suckers for having better things to do than criticise the whole time.

What spin, exactly? We were told a squad would be built that would be competitive in this league. It's too early to make a cast iron call on whether that is accurate, but early signs are pretty promising. So no spin, from what I can see. Just a board who got the club running as a business rather than an ongoing loss, and have provided Nigel Clough with the resources to build a good squad.

We have spent money, we'll have spent alot of money on wages bringing these new players in. Does every player we buy have to have a fee attached to keep fans onside? Within that quote you posted, CornwallRam, Glick says:

'On the pitch we recognize that we have to do better and put together a side that excites our fans'

I'd say that's exactly what's happened this Summer.
