There's a liquer store at sale there. I happen to have some education on the subject.

The numbers given ain't bad. I have some ideas how to make the numbers better.

Also found a really nice place for rent. Doing some math here right now.

Do it Cisse, just don’t wear the ring like you did in the brunny.

Actually I'm working on a level of hearsay that liquer stores don' t necesserily don't know which wines goes which foods and so on. Also I've heard that there is no great competition of giving courses of wine and champagne courses.

Considering of taking the risk of losing all my money.

No one cares about that stuff it's cost that counts. I tend to base a bottle of wine for £5 or under and if you stick a 50% off sticker on it is sure to sell.

People do care sometimes, but it does depend on your potential market. I personally would have thought Littleover shops are the sort of place people call in on the way home from work and pick up a bottle or a 4 pack or the evening etc. Like Gritters says, cost is likely to be the main driver in the decision making process.

For the sort of shop you are talking about I personally would be looking at a location where people 'visit', such as bakewell, ashbourne etc...maybe even Belper at a push if you could secure a premises on King Street, Someone may tell me im wrong and i might be, but I cant imagine Littleover being the sort of place I would venture to really unless i live or worked there. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, just what i think.

Bakewell does already have a wine and cheese shop that seems to do well, (and a whisky shop), always seems busy, yet walk past the same shop in INTU (if its still there) and it seems empty.

Personally if i was going to spend more than the norm on a decent wine taking guidance on what sort of wine i should buy for the occasion its more likely to be somewhere i have visited more for leisure than general shopping.

This. Or somewhere on Sadler Gate/The Strand in the city centre if the rent isn't obscene.

I have visited in Bakewell and it's whiskey store several times. A dream job for me.

I' m pondering if I could educate people on the area nearby that it makes a big difference what you choose for with your food, may it be a wine, beer or something else.

The thing is you need to get people visit the place from farther away.

It's a big risk.

Yes if I recall people will make a special trip to a shop if

a. It sells something special that cannot be bought elsewhere.

b. It is cheaper than the supermarket and it is worth while for that extra trip.

c. There's a good looking bird serving.

We'll that's my theory anyway

From what I have seen there are some weird stuff going on in your stores.

Yoy got very good quality wines selling at same prices than the entry level wines and nobody seems to care for one way or another.

Craft gins are all the rage in the uk atm apparently about to be followed by craft rum, I suspect they have a high mark up and are too specialist for the supermarket s.

We have a great gin done here in Finland. It has been chosen the best gin in the world.

The quality rums are excellent when you do find one.

Thats probably because most of us can't tell the difference.

Those that can probably most of them just make out they can.

I definitely think there is a market though.

Perhaps I should just rent a place there and have a year off.

Use it as a base to travel over Derbyshire, if thats where you would like to have a business. Work out if its a place that people visit but spend on tat, i.e matlock bath, or if people are prepared to spend a little more for name, quality or reputation (chatsworth)

There is a big UK chain called Majestic, who do in store wine tastings, offer tasting notes and pairing advice etc.

The nearest one to Littleover is 2 miles, nearer to Derby City center.

You'd need to compete against them, and I'd guess that your target audience may already be customers, especially if they pass the store on their commute etc.

Chuck in the fact that they'll deliver 6 bottles or more free of charge, and the fact they'll have more buying power than you, and you'd have to be very confident your figures add up.

If my spoken english was better I would just try to get a place as a salesman from the store like that.

Oh. I used to be a salesman in a store where people would get in and say what they would have for dinner and ask a good wine/champagne /beer with it. It was nice to help people like that.

I suppose that depends on just how good it is, if it's on a par with your written English you'd be more than ok.
