rynny
What is the difference between all of the forward players would you say.
Srg
Just felt we lacked a wing option last night... time to get in a loan I think. Weimann is all very well and good but he's not a winger like Ibe or Lingaard were, and we really could have done with a sub out wide last night. Curtains
Let me answer your question with another:Would you stick Martin on the wing where Russell/Ince usually play?
Curtains
Well Martin plays as a striker and the guys out wide (Russell, Ince and Weimann) are wingers. You wouldn't say the wingers aren't putting enough crosses in and label Martin as a winger so why should they be labelled as strikers?
rynny
If we had opened the game up more we might have lost with them hitting us on the break as in the Leeds game. The strikers that start need to take responsibility for scoring more goals.
Curtains
As I said, that's understandable, but I'm afraid my answer would have to be "tough titties". At 20 grand/week(at least) he'd better find a way to make Bent work or at the very least not write him off after 180 minutes of football. Unless someone wants to tell me that Bent was signed with no input from the manager whatsoever, in which case we have bigger problems.
Rampage
Absolutely correct again, Curtains. We did not look like scoring. Burnley are not going to lose many games this season. Concrete defence and quick playuers up front. We look pedestrian by comparison. Big improvement in Christie to say the least. Weimann has difficulty controlling the ball at present. Bent was a must last night. If I was Butterfield I would not want substituting at present, only when I had produced a match winning performance. Surely Johnson is playing too deep for best results. I remember him bursting through and having rasping shots. I wonder what difference, Ince would have made.
Anon
Are you saying Bent should start games then.
Curtains
The reason I asked is due to the bit in bold, try and keep on track, curtains, you said the strikers that start, plural, and as only Martin started as a striker are you saying he needs to score more and take more responsibility form the lack of goals? lushrams
No need to panicThe goals will come and I firmly believe that someone will get a real hiding very soon. We just need to settle down with a system (which we seem to be doing now) and just a little more quality in the delivery ,then it'll happen.Russell was full of energy and fully deserves his spot in the team.....only gripe was his 2 free kicks were dreadful and wasted the opportunities. At least we finally have the defence clicking, Keogh was top class last night
SuperRams10
Anyone no where Dawkins was last night? Would of liked him to get a chance last night as it is clear weimann isn't a winger

Ovis aries
Why only use two subs and Bent is on the bench ?, why not bring him on ,even 10 minutes to go, come on P C that what squads are for, big, big mistake for me .
Curtains
No, but he should definitely come on if we're chasing for goals to secure a win. What I'm saying is that anyone who says they want another striker, must first justify why Bent should be overlooked.

rynny
Oh I see sorry you are implying that Martin is our sole striker and the others are wingers. The team as a whole have the responsibility for creating and scoring goals but in general the bulk of the goals will come from the Centre Forwards ie Martin and Bent who isn't playing. eg. Aguero for Man City Costa for Chelsea Martial or Rooney for Man U Etc etc
eddie
Here you go, Curtains. It's a bit early in the season, but ....
Anon
Right I get your point and I suppose it's hard to justify .Maybe give Bent a chance and see what he can do .Im all for that now but from the start of games with Martin and let's see what they can do together. Curtains
I am not implying that, that is how it is. Martin started as a lone striker, or did he have a strike partner? Now you are contradicting yourself, so which is it, the strikers that start (Martin) have to take the responsibility or the team as a whole? It is you that said:I wanted to know if this opinion included the wide players or just Martin?
