North_Stand_Ram
So in summary, Dawkins is rubbish because he doesn't hoof it forward all the time.
eddie
No, it's because he doesn't do enough with the ball. Ball "retention" isn't good enough to get into our 11 when everyone is fit, our squad has too much quality now.
North_Stand_Ram
Excellent when he came on at Rotherham, excellent when he came on at Bournemouth.
TroyDyer
I disagree that one winger compliments the other. A few weeks ago he was playing Russell and Ibe. Both direct attacking wingers and we were hitting form with those two in the team.
eddie
Depends what you perceive as excellent. Russell before his injury was excellent, Ince right now is excellent, Ward at the start of the season was excellent. I don't think Dawkins has reached those heights until he made his move permanent in my opinion. A useful player to have, something different, brilliant on the ball, but I think we've got better now. North_Stand_Ram
Comparisons with Russell in the context of the performances by Dawkins at Bournemouth and Rotherham are not exactly valid, because Russell was unavailable through injury. He was chosen to start against Sheffield Wednesday on the basis of those performances. Moaning about McClaren choosing to start him in Saturday's match is pointless, because there was nobody better/as effective who could start (Lingard is still being gently eased into the side).I wholeheartedly agree with the point you make about there being better/more effective/more direct wide players at the club, and under ideal circumstances they should start - and of course Dawkins seems to reserve his best performances for when he comes off the bench. YorkshireRam
I know what you're saying here, but when the stats are saying you're wrong about the backwards passes and you keep banging on about it, then yes you are 100% wrong. May Contain Nuts
32 games into the season and some plums still don't understand the way we play and what we ask of our players, or that we change the way we play dependant on our position during a match. Still complaining that players don't do what THEY want them to do, without thinking for a second what they've been told to do.

YorkshireRam
No, you haven't. Cos you're determined to ignore them when they're put right in front of you.
Alph
As a big fan of Dawkins I still hope Lingard is ready to start soon. I really like him. Think he looks the best of the lot. If this is him being rusty...Thought he was a frickin nightmare at the AMEX in the 1st leg PO semi.

Alph
Certainly looked good when he came on vs Shef Wed.If that's him not quite fully fit and not sharp we've got one hell of a player on our hands!
YorkshireRam
Yeah, thought he was really good v Reading and was murdering Rotherham. I don't think he looked this promising at Brighton. Maybe it's early enthusiasm but he looks better than Ibe to me.
