My daughter was at college with him for the first year - I think he then went on to train for this. Well done lad.

CITY of Derby swimmer Adam Peaty broke his own Commonwealth Games record to book his place in Saturday night's 100m breaststroke final.

He won the second semi-final at the Tollcross Pool in Glasgow in a time of 59.16 tonight.

In the earlier heats Peaty set a new record of 59.47.

"I think there is more to come from me," said Peaty after his semi-final. "I'm still getting used to the arena. I'm training"http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1" alt="icon1"> hard at the moment and enjoying it."

MrsRam,  Adam is an Utch lad. I was at school with his dad and know all the family. Uttoxeter is buzzing hoping he wins the Gold tomorrow night. I will be in a pub with his cousins, cheering him on... :D

I like watching the games just can't be doing with Hazel Irvine presenting it, she gets on my nerves the same way as Adrian Chiles does.

Pretty funny when you google his name. Stoke trying to claim him big time.

Born in Utch, competes for City of Derby.

His family are mixed in their support, some Stoke, some Derby, some Liverpool. but one of his uncles has had a Union Jack with Derby County written on it displayed in his window for about 15 years!!!!

I'm claiming it as a win for Derby!

Haha. I've got links to Uttoxeter... Use to work at the Little Thief/Burger King on the island for the A50 many moons ago. Got friends up there still. Had many a night in Uttoxeter!

I live a 5 minute walk from where you worked mate. Up the road to the Three Tuns, just behind the Fire Station. Don't let the little burnt patches put you off.

Some of the coverage is crap, , there is little coverage of field events , they just show the winning throws , I like to see whole competitions, why not do it , they do it in the Olympics, and Worlds, and Euro's.

Red button.

My Niece (11) & Nephew (13) are both members of the swimming club in Uttoxeter that Adam Peaty used to swim for.

They were over at mine at the weekend and we all watched the swimming. To see them buzzing and be so inspired by one of their own winning gold was quite moving & has clearly had a motivational effect on them, judging by my brother being nagged about wanting to go swimming all the way home.

Maybe the Commonwealth Games aren't so crap after all, Mr Bolt.
