Personally think the previous management did have it right in regards to pre-season...unless you're a big team and it's bringing money into the club - I see little point in going out to some forest in Europe. Yes, it can develop team bonding but we are strong in that department anyway and you don't have to go to Europe to do that. As silly as it should be, there's always the chance the players do become 'bored' and miss families etc.

Oxford United are pleased to announce three further pre-season friendlies for the summer.

An Oxford United XI will travel to Abingdon Town on Thursday 24th July, and also play away at Banbury United on Tuesday 5th August. The games are both likely to feature Development Squad sides, and this will also be the case for a friendly behind closed door at Derby County on 5th August.

Ally McCoist’s side will visit the iPro Stadium on Saturday 2nd August.

Derby County will host Scottish giants Rangers at the iPro Stadium in their final pre-season friendly ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.

Ally McCoist’s side will visit the iPro Stadium on Saturday 2nd August, kick-off 1:00pm. Ticket information for the game will be announced on the official website, www.dcfc.co.uk, in due course.

The Gers were due to play in the first round of the Scottish League Cup on either 2nd or 3rd August, but the fixture will now take place on either Tuesday 5th or Wednesday 6th August.

Rangers were one of the ten founding members of the original Scottish Football League, remaining in Scotland's top division until the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

Last season they finished as the Scottish League One Champions, 39 points ahead of second-placed Dunfermline, as well as reaching the final of the Challenge Cup.

In domestic football, Rangers have won more league titles and trebles than any other club in the world; winning the league title 54 times, the Scottish Cup 33 times, the Scottish League Cup 27 times, and achieving the treble of all three in the same season seven times.

In European football, Rangers became the first British club to reach a UEFA tournament final; winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 after being runner-up twice in 1961 and 1967, while a third runners-up finish in Europe came in the 2008 UEFA Cup.

Head Coach Steve McClaren’s squad will report back for pre-season training on Wednesday 25th June before the matches get underway the following month,  with the new season due to start on Saturday 9th August 2014.

The Rams are to face non-league sides Mickleover Sports, Matlock Town, Ilkeston and Nuneaton Town as well as Football League sides Burton Albion and Notts County.

Derby will also play Russian Premier League side Zenit St Petersburg during a six-day training camp in Austria – with a second fixture to be announced in due course - as the side prepare for McClaren’s first full season in charge of the Rams.

Derby County 2014/15 Pre-Season Friendly Matches:

Tuesday 1st July, Mickleover Sports (A) 7:15pm
Thursday 3rd July, Matlock Town (A) 7:45pm
Saturday 5th July, Ilkeston FC (A) 3pm
Tuesday 8th July, Nuneaton Town (A) 7:45pm

Mickleover game has been moved to
Thursday 19th July k/off 7.15pm

A strong team is expected at Mickleover, last season saw an U21 Team play, who almost lost the game even with Theo in the team.

A big crowd is expected, and tickets will be available to buy in advance

Lovely place to watch footy, surrounded by countryside, apart from 200 seats is all standing right next to the pitch just 1metre away from action ...and with warm weather a chance to sit on benches behind the goal next to the bar with a pint in hand

Thanks for correcting.

I know prices are £8 adult, £4 concessions, kids free with an adult.

First people there can park on spare grass area down length of touchline, after that is all used up Car parking will be crazy.

There are small estates close to the ground and actually great northern car par park but that will fill up also quickly cars will likely park on station road but not easy to do so

Players report back for pre season training next week. Looking forward to seeing pics of Jamie Ward running round Allestree park in his sports bra.

That was under Clough.

McClaren is continental... Jamie will be cycling around Amsterdam in a mankini.
