George Thorne

We're in danger over-bigging Georgey by this, well let's face it, what has become an obsession. He came, we saw, we liked what we saw....and we might think he's destined for football greatness. He may be, he may not be. Time will tell and we haven't been able to spend enough of it watching Thorne yet. BUT to be honest the jury has to be out on his fitness for the long-term and, dare I say,his ultimate loyalty to anyone but himself....he's good but is he that good (yet) to inspire (?!) all this desperate fawning? All in all I can't see anything but a well-equipped promotion challenging DCFC at the season's start, with or without GT, and THAT is far more important. So chillax....as the kids used to say last time I paid any attention to em (2-3 years ago now...)

Nope. Along with the flex downs in wages the club operates within strict financial self imposed constraints based on a 3 year worst case forecast. I.e we get relegated and don't get promoted back to the prem.

I think you would have a few players rotting in the reserves , a la Thorne , having asked away .

Although GT remains a priority, I would hope that we're at least starting to look at other options in parallel.

Starting the season with Eustace, and Hanson as back up, wouldn't be the end of the world, t it also wouldn't be my first choice....

Hanson looks like he is going to save us a few bob.

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the article in the West Brom paper. The first part is posturing, the important bit is where he says Thorne and Dawson can go at the right price. He's no longer 'not for sale'. It's practically a come and get me.

I agree

My initial thoughts were the same

I have seen much of him but he sounds very promising (set piece specialist as well) and highly rated but at 17 years old we need to take it easy with him. I think he's in the right hands with Mac and co and we may see a few glimpses of him this season.

Looking forward to seeing Mac bring through the likes of Hanson, Lowe et al.

This thread is now longer than one of the actual Game of Thrones books !!

Difference being that in this thread we're just losing the will to live. If this were one of the GoT books then half of the contributors would have their heads on spikes by now. Certainly the ones we like anyway....:D
