The demise of Forest

A Youtube video, of course!

Ah, of course.

The Dutch paper suggests that he's going to be on £10k a week. Looks like the gumps had better steel themselves for the sale of Lansbury and Darlow over the next few days.

Of course, the cynic in me is saying that Fridgy is pushing the boat out on new signings to court popularity with the fans (again), hoping against hope that the Football League refuse to ratify the transfers on account of their £1.8m HMRC debt.

Fryatt on a free would be a good piece of business. Not a 20 goal a season man but I would expect him to reach double figures at least.

I would be sceptical about Lars Veldwijk though. £2.5m is an awful lot of money for a Dutch second division striker. I am only guessing but I would imagaine Dutch second division football is not dissimilar to League One.

Sense from a gump, rare sight. Well done on Fryatt, he could actually do you good. Could be rubbish but he's free so it's worth a roll of the dice.

£2.5 mil however is NOT worth a roll of the dice, so you'd better hope he can hack it in England or you're in trouble.

And so the annual forest signings wankfest begins. Every summer they spoff millions and millions in an ever more frantic attempt to get promoted. The fans demand it, the owner manages to convince other clubs that they'll actually pay up and the merry-go-round continues. Over on LTLF, the mood is lifted in certain quarters, as junky-like they emerge from their stupor to a world full of fresh possibilities and start to gloat at us because they've bought big and **** themselves frantic about how this year it's going to different and this year the squad looks absolutely certain top 2 material (probably champions) and how last year was all just a bad memory and down to injuries/the wrong manager/sleet/whatever...

One year the annual throw of the dice might work out for them, but I doubt it. Meanwhile we'll just keep quietly going about the business of running a proper football club, paying our way and routinely spanking them on the pitch.

Debt building, wage bill spiralling, ground crumbling...if Physco fails, there's not many places left to go. Which is more likely Prem in 12 months or League 1?

Zzzz BOOOOORRRIIIING

If it was so bad, why would Forest fans be wetting themselves over the signing of a Dutch player? Think you've got another Bryan Roy?

At least I've watched Dutch second division football. What are your credentials for being able to make any sort of an educated comment?

Sorry, shouldn't have used the word 'educated' - you're from Nottingham.

Isn't your university known as by far and away the worst in the country? Pot kettle Edward

Fryatt's a good signing, they just really need someone who can bloody score. Still, considering there are so many highly rated strikers around and Forest are one of the richest clubs outside the PL I'd be pretty underwhelmed with those.

Btw, I was wondering, when's Cohen due back?

Fryatt would be a good signing - no doubt about that.

I used to watch Volendam (Veldwijk's first club, I believe) a time or two a few years ago - dreadful standard of football but bags of goals at both ends. They got promoted to the Eredivisie one year and they got hammered week in, week out.

Some of the clubs are tiny, Excelsoir only have a stadium of 3,500!

There must be plenty of gems in lower leagues so he could turn out to be a real find. £2.5m is one hell of a gamble though.

It is better than spending £2m on Simon Cox or £1.2 on Ishmael Miller though. At least he has a history of being prolific.

I'm sorry but 2.5million for a second division Dutch striker is absolutely insane.

INSANE.

Fryatt appears a decent signing, but then again isn't he just a slightly taller Simon Cox?

But 2.5million on a 6ft 5inch second division Dutch striker is laughable. I have no idea how he can play, but to me, I can't bloody wait because the chances are he's a donkey and for 2.5million...

What has Fawaz done to your club? An absolute mess.

I've heard it's no where near the 2.5 m that's being quoted

If it was reported by The Mirror or something like that I'd take it with a pinch of salt, but the BBC are rarely wrong when they post articles using figures etc. They never just post a story or stupid rumour, they always use substance and are in the know.
