McLaren and Red Bull are in a legal tussle over the future of aerodynamics expert Dan Fallows.

Red Bull announced on Wednesday that Fallows had rejoined them in the role of head of aerodynamics, replacing McLaren-bound Peter Prodromou.

In January, McLaren said Fallows had joined from Red Bull, and racing director Eric Boullier said he had a "legally binding contract".

"The matter is now in the hands of our lawyers," he added.

BBC Sport has learned that after Fallows agreed his deal with McLaren, Red Bull offered him a better job title and a higher salary.

Although Fallows has signed a contract with McLaren, he had not actually started work for the team. He had been on gardening leave from Red Bull, where he is now back at work in his new role.

A Red Bull statement said Fallows "left the team for a short time last year and has returned to begin working in his new role".

The team added Prodromou, who worked closely with their design chief Adrian Newey, is now on "gardening leave". He will join McLaren ahead of the 2015 season.

Prodromou was previously with McLaren from 1991 until moving to Red Bull with Newey in 2006.

A new team next season and maybe another?

Gene Haas has secured a Formula 1 team entry for the 2015 season.

The American NASCAR team owner confirmed on Friday that he had been informed by the FIA his application to join the F1 grid had been successful.

It comes after a lengthy evaluation process to ensure that Haas had the financial means and necessary infrastructure to commit to the sport.

In a statement, Haas welcomed the FIA decision, although knew that the granting of the entry marked only the start of a huge effort to get on to the grid.

"Obviously, we're extremely pleased to have been granted a Formula 1 licence by the FIA," he said.

"It's an exciting time for me, Haas Automation and anyone who wanted to see an American team return to Formula 1.

"Now, the really hard work begins. It's a challenge we embrace as we work to put cars on the grid.

"I want to thank the FIA for this opportunity and the diligence everyone put forth to see our licence application come to fruition."

Haas is hoping to announce further details about his F1 operation next week.

The success of the Haas entry comes just a few years after the efforts of another American team, USF1, failed to come off.

FORZA ROSSA ALSO BEING CONSIDERED

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone suggested at last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix that Haas may not be the only team that gets an entry for 2015.

The FIA confirmed that it was evaluating another entry from an outfit called Forza Rossa, but a final decision on it getting the nod had not been taken.

Although no further details were released, sources have suggested that this is a bid being put together by former F1 team principal Colin Kolles.

I don't have any sympathy for him. Not just because he might seriously injure himself or someone else, but also because he thought he was better than Williams and complained they didn't give him a quick enough car. Look where they are now. Sweet justice.

He nearly cost Lewis Bahrain 2 weeks ago because safety car had to come out with Lewis about 10 seconds ahead at the time.

Lewis fastest in qualifying in China but has car suspension issues with the Mercedes.
