  1. They are, and yes it came from someone at the club because it was a topic of conversation on a connected but different issue.
  2. To add some context, there have been some very low crowds this season - for the Northampton game there were only circa 14k home supporters in the stadium, and they are figures straight from someone at the club. The announced figures take into account all tickets sold/given away - including staff, ST holders, comps, corporate etc. Therefore technically it's impossible to have a "crowd" less that 22k, but that hasn't always translated into bums in seats. I've missed two or three games this season but I'm still counted as being there. As for yesterday, I thought it was a good day out until some moronic Derby fans tried to storm Barnsley station after the game. Reminded me why I drive to games.
  3. Hi Angie, I'll tuck that up my sleeve!! Think we're heading to the Dove Inn which is very close, so if I can't get storage sorted I'll drop you a DM, so thank you.
  4. 🎵 They them followed the...? Needs a total rewrite. Anyway, I'm going to shut up because while it's light-hearted, someone will feign offence, then a load of people will take offence on behalf of the person feigning offence, then loads more will take offence on behalf of people who aren't offended but who they feel should be, and despite nobody actually being offended that's me cancelled and put in the bin.
  5. Sorry all, having asked about the pub - good shout by the way - does anyone know if there are storage lockers or anywhere to leave a rusksack? It's clear it won't be allowed in the ground and the station doesn't seem to have lockers. Heading for a night out and stay over in Sheffield straight after.
  6. Gonna be a struggle getting the new words into the song....
  7. As VDL's header nestled in the back of the net: "Palace are absolutely aghast, they cannot understand it...and Nigel Martyn knew the dummies in front of him had let him down" is etched on my brain forever, it's my favourite line from commentary of all time. You're right, #gottaloveGR
  8. Ha ha we’ll probably go for a couple after to let the crowds die down
  9. I watched the second half of the Bolton game, they looked decent going forward and solid at the back. Did what they had to to win the game without ever being spectacular. Just what you'd expect really. They've got a good front line.
  10. I think that's great. They're now stuck with a player they have to pay full wages for, won't play, can't move on, and all totally unnecessarily. It just heaps more financial stress on Chansiri, which is exactly what he deserves.
  11. That's what I love about you Dave, ever the optimist.
  12. We normally drive for this one, have a bit of lunch out of town and head straight for the ground. None of that this time, on the train and into the pub; therefore, what's the allocated or best away fans pub where I'm likely to find some of you reprobates?
  13. No, because they've not been promoted. If they were, the cost of running the Women's arm of the club would increase by around ÂŁ350,00-ÂŁ500,000 because of the extra requirements moving from the amateur game (National League North, where they play now) to the Championship, which is semi-pro with some pro teams in there. And the revenue won't necessarily match the outlay. Even in their current league Newcastle are full time professional, Forest are heading there, Wolves are heading there. They all have stated ambitions to be promoted to the Championship, and in Newcastle's case, the WSL. Not surprisingly, Newcastle are running away with the league and Forest, who won it last year, are second. There is no rush on Derby's front at the moment to pump money in for this to happen, given the extra financial outlay should they be promoted.
  14. I don't know which block are which tbh, all I know this was coming from up the top near the away fans segregation. I'm towards the top to the right of the goal (as you look at the pitch), but don't know which block I'm in.
  15. 1Wildsmith 7 - not called into action that much but two bits stand out - a good near post save and a missed punch which rebounded off Nelson's arm and forced Bradley to clear off the line 35Nelson 7 Just goes about his business with the minimum of fuss 5Bradley 8.5 Excellent performance - that's the player we'd hoped we'd signed. Won headers, clearance off the line, good blocks, more mobile, looked more comfortable with the ball at his feet. 6Cashin 7 just went about his job well 24Nyambe 6 Great defensively, most certainly not a wing back 11Smith 7 came on and made a real difference, good to have him back 8Bird 6.5 Quiet first half, came to life after Smith came on and was pushed forward 32Adams 7 Quickly becoming a vital part of the team with his energy and willingness to get stuck in 20Elder 6 Again, good defensively but doesn't have a natural attacking instinct so not a wing back 2Wilson 6 Not sure of his role first half, looked better second when switched to RWB 11MĂ©ndez-Laing 6.5 Not a game to remember but set up the winner 7Barkhuizen 6 Not a lot came off for him but can't fault his effort 17Sibley 7 A good game for him to come into, great movement and finish to win the game
  16. Indeed, but in the eyes of a few, some are more Derby than others.
  17. Last week I questioned Warne's substitution of Nyambe, and I'm still not convinced it was the right thing to do. But if you're going to question, you should always praise as well when it goes well. Yesterday, his substitutions and personnel switches were bang on and went a long way to helping us win the game. Releasing Bird higher up, bringing on Smith who can pass, putting NML wider and having Sibley in and around the area, all great tactical switches. Great job!
  18. I agree. I didn't see it at the time, but looking at it today if the ref sees it, I'm surprised he didn't give it. If it had been the other way around, I would have expected a penalty.
  19. There’s a section of the south stand high up towards the away fans who seem more obsessed singing songs slagging other Derby fans off than they do supporting the team. It’s something that’s emerged this season. Any slight lull and it’s “silence as usual”, “south stand’s a library’ or yesterday’s joy, “support your team or f-off home”. Been going on a few games now, finally other supporters started giving them some back and then an argument ensued. So yesterday, as has been the way recently, the atmosphere in that stand hasn’t been good, made worse by some fans doing the old trick of “we’re better fans because we sing more” routine. It’s just arrogant and divisive, and for that matter wrong. Fortunately the team turned up second half just before it started getting ugly. Then in response to the manager’s excellent subs and shift in players, we got right on top of Stevenage, we played some good football, the supporters responded and the rest has been well covered in this thread regards the atmosphere.
  20. Please can you post the other page of the spread? I want to see what happened!
  21. No, it isn't that. Often he's coming back into play to make a challenge, or his starting position is just wrong. Players will now know they can catch him offside easily so it's probably happening more often. Much would be solved if he made more of an effort to get back onside quickly before thinking about joining back in with play. He needs to get it sorted because its unnecessary and disruptive.
  22. I agree, though I watched the Coventry v Millwall game yesterday and the standard was much higher than I expected, perhaps just because I've not watched much Championship this season. Then I watched the Soton/Huddersfield game. Even Huddersfield looked good and they might well be a L1 team next season. Given the current crop of management and players, although I'd prefer to be in the Champ than L1, something is going to have to improve significantly, which it may or may not depending on the outlook of the owners.
  23. Apologies if not clear TR, what I was trying to say was that if Nyambe was on the pitch, the way he defends generally and had defended all afternoon, I imagine his positioning would have put him in the right place and that ball would have been shepherded out for a goal kick. But as you say, who knows what would have happened had he stayed on? If Warne felt it was serious enough to remove him from the pitch, no problem. In the moment it seemed, to me anyway, he wasn't visibly struggling hence the frustration. Anyway, it is what it is and it's done, so we forget about it and move on. In the great scheme of things, we're still second and need to crack on.
  24. Maybe, but Nyambe had dominated that side of the pitch and had little trouble with the Shrewsbury players all afternoon. Also he is excellent at defending players running at the byline just because of his strength and ability to get between the man and ball. No criticism of Wilson per se, he had just walked onto the pitch, but he was the wrong side of his man, and between him and Collins made a hash of defending a fairly straightforward situation. So yes, I think it was highly relevant.
