  1. Geez, just get an electric van already. Or two. Or use public transport! (I'm sure they could have implemented ulez much better/fairer btw, even if I agree with the general idea. Luckily, I managed to find a sneaky parking place just outside the zone when I go to work. I don't work there, but laughable that Harefield is in ulez, it's like a remote countryside village, and with no trains!)
  2. Yes, but the results target is subjective. If we go up and Clowes spends 100 million, only winning the league might suffice. If we go up and we have to sell everyone and play just kids, then survival might be key, even if others think the results are toilet We all have our own ideas of what the results need to be. Why some people think Nigel Clough did a great job on a shoestring, or a bad job because progress was too slow. Or that Rooney did amazing in dire circumstances, or a terrible job as he had good enough players to keep us up. Most of the complaints about Warne is to do with expectations, both in terms of how many points we should walk the league by, as well as us playing an incredible brand of attacking football that we have all been used to for decades!
  3. Would you take a defeat tomorrow (and no more Rampant) but guaranteed top spot? Or take our chances to both go up and remain unbeaten? Think I would beed a guaranteed Cup truimph next season too to take the defeat but promotion! Still chuckling at the Carr twins.
  4. Geez, this has all the warnings of an incoming disaster!
  5. True to some extent, but I'm hopeful Clowes may have a few other factors to judge by as well as pure results.
  6. I pretty much like all food, but haven't got any interest in baked beans. Really bland. Tinned tomato soup is another one. I'm also not bothered too much by food that doesn't look too appetising. But that watery bean juice ruins any meal. Is there a worse sight than a lovley cooked breakfast being ruined by baked beans.
  7. Some great suggestions, I'm going for a couple that are further away, but fine to go for a week, I've went to all of them for less. Istanbul: there are loads of sites to see here, probably equivalent to Rome in terms of places I've been. Reasonably priced, great food. Get a Turkish Airlines flight and enjoy a bit more comfort than a budget airline. Marrakech (maybe with Fez too): Budget airlines fly there, could get train between two I think. Both places are really different to Europe (and Istanbul). Could do a trip into Atlas mountains from Marrakech too. Loads of crazy things to photograph, like snakes charmers.
  8. I remember hearing a story about someone at Bill Shankly's press conference when he said about football being more important than life or death. Said it was clearly ironic aimed at people who were taking it too seriously. I actually just looked up the full quote and it's 'literally' dripping with irony: "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

  10. @Tamworthram slams Derby "supporters" for knowingly taking bosses comments out of context. Also fails to condem Holocaust deniers.
  11. A lot of Americanism are old English words that persisted in the US as the Puritans wanted things to stay the same. In the UK, we were less precious over this and the language changed more. Trash, for example, was in a Shakespeare play. Read Melvyn's Bragg's Adventures of English Language for more! Like when kids say "Aks" instead of "Ask", they are picking it up from America, where it came from slave traders from the West Country.
  12. DERBY COUNTY FANS FORUM: MARCH 2024 I read that and genuinely thought there was a march planned for people on this forum. Was trying to work out what we were marching for, perhaps an anniversary of the one about 2 years back? Grimsby to Pride Park?
  13. English version: "the flooding is getting brutal, all industry here is collapsing and we can't even go outside without fear of being eaten by XL Bullies."

  15. Me and my two boys have got tickets for the Orient game. They seen a few big games (Pearson's final match, 2-0 win vs Forest when we scored after 10 seconds or so, Leeds playoff defeat, home defeat to Villa which caused Lamps to rip up a league winning side) but they've never seen us clinch promotion!
  16. Likewise if we end up in Europe with him.
  17. Hopefully that prediction turns out as wrong as your fears for this season.
  18. Are you sure about that? It does register the likelihood of that chance, which is the whole point of it. Stick to exam results.
  19. I just checked possession stats too, expecting it to be about 90%. Was 56% to Bolton. Weird.
  20. Is there anything as dull as people worrying if we'll be rubbish if we go up?
  21. Great timing next week that none of our rivals are playing!
  22. These scores are all perfect. Please remain this way!!! (Unless we score more)
