  1. I have said this for ages now. I am a Football and Rugby fan. The sin bin works in Rugby so well. A yellow card in a football match merely makes that player slightly more reticent when going into tackles but is not really a punishment for what could be a cynical foul or dissent (you never see a Rugby player argue back or swear at the Ref). 10 Minutes off the field could be a good punishment and at this level we could end up playing against teams of 9 or 8 the way some teams play.
  2. I can't believe that you can't believe the sentiment on here. I have been on this forum for a few years now and in the last couple of years, the levels of sympathy and patience have nose dived. Maybe partly due to the administration and the farce that followed etc. But it really has become toxic in places.
  3. Off to Aberdeen? That won't do his ruddy faced complexion any good. Having been there, it is bitterly cold even in the height of summer. He is buggered.
  4. I haven't been following this thread. So forgive me if it has been mentioned. But why is Eddie the Eagle in goal for Charlton?
  5. He is probably savvy enough to also realise if he goes to the Premier league, he may only play bit parts at the moment or get loaned out. If he got championship interest, he would walk into most teams and stay. So maybe he is banking on championship football with us next year. Either way it is a win win for Derby.
  6. No one actually knows how much money is for transfers. I could say I have savings, you won't know how much. Money for Max Bird might not be there until he actually leaves again you and I will not know. Or that money might be used already for other debts. The Max deal might not have been sealed until it was too larlte for us to recruit. You will never know. Shoulda, woulda coulda.
  7. The plain fact is, we do not know what the budget is, what restrictions are still hanging over our heads. If you have to rely on loans, you can only go for what is available at the time. Same for free agents. On top of that they have to want to come here. So your ocean of talent becomes a fish pond. I can see some logic in picking experience over youth if you are targeting a quick return, it has its risks. But surely going for youth is riskier. In a perfect world, we wouldn't have any restrictions and at this level, pretty much the pick of the best available at that level. Some transfers will work, some won't. I still say, bring in a position to go for top two at this stage with what we have is pretty good. We should only get stronger as our injured players return.
  8. I would hope he never does, much prefer him to pop it in the net
  9. Agreed, The ball seems to fly in from one side or the other and simply bounces off his head or leg into the net. How lucky can you get?
  10. The clue was in Frgs as in First RAMS goal scorer.
  11. The first time in weeks, I haven't chosen Bird as my Frgs. Get in
  12. I would agree with you. However. Bird is young and should be able to go longer into the season. Collins and NML put far more effort and energy in than Bird. So you are right with those two. I like Bird, but he is not all that. His basic passing was atrocious the other night. That is not fatigue that is lazy.
  13. Already a thread for this topic
  14. I think, those who resort to insult and abuse are generally lacking in intelligence and don't have the argument to back up any criticism. So they resort to vitriol abuse. Or they fall under the 'yeah yeah, what he said' group.
  15. Not sure I entirely agree with your last line. At levels above, games are usually wide open and players have time. If you are clever you don't have to run as much if you can dictate the play. At this level, most teams rely on their athleticism ton just run and hope they are faster and harder than the opposition. Currently most teams are more than Derby.
  16. However, if your midfield is so poor as ours is, why would you play it to them. Bird pretty much gave every ball to the opposition last night. So until we get some decent players in the midfield, we may as well play 5 at the back and 5 up front.
  17. I do agree that last night was awful. Isn't the Derby way, to get within touching distance then fall away. The midfield is atrocious at the moment. Bird couldn't place any pass unless to the opposition and shied away from tackles. I wonder if another team are in for him and he doesn't want to get injured. No one was really on it last night for whatever reason. My original point was in answer to the toxicity on the forum recently. I agree it is terrible. But we have come through similar times .
  18. Maybe some of the new members can't remember the tough times and feel we have a god given right to be perfect every game. League 1 is tough because the teams get in your face. Everyone ups there game for Derby because they also see us as a big club. We currently are not a big club. Awaiting incoming from Nigel aged 9
