I used to wonder about being a superhero whose superpower was the ability to plait fog.

However I couldn’t come up with a scenario where it would be of any use.

    Lord Marmaduke Ffogg may disagree

A relatively common view about the BBC, and a complerely wrong one. The single most important broadcaster in the world purely because the way we fund it means it can't be bought. What bias there is there comes from the very slightly left of centre and liberal mentality which comes from being staffed by educated British people.

BBC used to be pretty much fair and neutral, the 'public service ethos' but not now. Majority of the senior posts are now taken by Tories and Tory Party funders.....hence next to no criticism of the current government.

You cannot both be right !

I have zero interest in gaming, but my youngest has just asked for an Oculus Quest 2 for his birthday - anyone tried one? Any good?

You have to have a Facebook account  (the quest is cheap for a reason they want to farm all your personal information / VR activity  and you have to agree to it on sign up) and if for any reason the account is blocked , VR headset stops working , in terms of VR experience it is very much a marmite product  , the most popular games seem to be rail shooters and party games , there are some gems out there (RPG's and quality First Person Shooters) but not many (its  still a new medium) , the problem is the  human facter i.e. the IPD (inter Polar Distance)   if your pupils don't match the perceived human norm i.e. 64mm apart  visually things go down hill very quickly (to be fair 62 mm - 68 mm will do) images become blurry and text is unreadable , the Oculus Quest 2 has 3 settings and if you eyes don't match one of those 3 you are going to be frustrated , I have quite a wide IPD and my only solution would be to get the Steam VR headset (Valve) which has a broader range but is super expensive

Any chance there are 20,000 Derby County fans, each with £4,000 or whatever to spare?  We could buy the club ourselves if that were the case. A fan owned Derby County.. our club would really be OUR club then.

I just need to find 19,999 people to agree with me now.. ?

If all clubs had this model, what a far better state football would be in.  Just look at the Champions League, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, the petrodollar gang were all there. The inequity, and the distortion of football due to the billionaire owner model has reached crisis proportions.

For all the stupendous awfulness of the ESL (and it's a truly dreadful concept), is really that much worse than what we are seeing already? Apologies gone off on a tangent now.

If I buy 2 shares do I get more say ?

  5. Santander appears to have some ability to deposit cheques into the mobile app , It looks like you have to scan it once then and write on it "For Mobile Deposit Only"  and scan again ?

I am loath to as if this does not work I am going to have to do some persuasion when I try and deposit over counter

Anyone had any experience of using it

Actually scratch the above checked the app and there is no facility to deposit cheques in via it as far as I can see looks like USA only can do it

  6. I got one season ticket refund today , but not my sons , that might be more complicated as they are posting a cheque , I paid for it, his address associated with it , of course hes left the country in the meantime ! , it so long now I cannot remember what I put on the refund form , even if it asked for an address, that one may be a write off

Heard someone on the radio this morning moaning that they hadn’t received a refund for last seasons tickets.
The club said they hoped to refund everyone  by early December. Hmmm ? I must be right at the back because I haven’t heard anything yet. Then there is this season too.

Heard on Radio Derby news  this morning , that they refunding 2019/2020 First and then 2020/2021 , I havent heard anything either and I am expecting 2 tickets to be refunded from last year

  8. Now we know about the proposed take over , I am guessing this is why refunds have gone quiet , I bet the payment of these ios part of the discussion , i.e. whol will pay them.

They are not going to communicate current status that only leads to awkward questions, best say nothing and if anyone asks just say its taking time

  9. I suspect they are doing nothing , is it beyond the wit of man to communicate ,

"we are only able to process N refunds a day due to the impact of Covid and we have 20000 to get through so please be patient "

no of course it isnt , therefore in my opinon they are doing nothing

Unfortunately emailing them is probably a waste of time as they will have been told to respond with a prepared answer , I  think we will get a realistic response once the local media pick it up (Come Radio Derby lets be having you)  and start asking some probing questions

    Received this, this morning:

    Hi Anna

    Thank you for your email.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a timeline on when supporters should expect their refunds as the process is manual. If you wish to cancel your Direct Debit with your bank you may do so, this will stop any further payments being taken before your season ticket is cancelled.

We do ask for supporters’ patience and understanding whilst processing refunds as the club are currently working under limited resources.

If you wish to cancel your Direct Debit with your bank you may do so, this will stop any further payments being taken before your season ticket is cancelled.

    Kind Regards

    Becca"

This implies that some may have been refunded , I would love to know if any have , this feels like the time that Radio Derby ought to step in  , I wonder if Owen Bradley asked Mel about this in his interview broadcast tonight , we shall see I guess

Pardon? I stand by everything I’ve said. The refunds might be late, but I have no doubts they will be processed.

Some of us understand it’s a difficult time for the club and not looking to jump on them at any given opportunity.

You go for it though if that’s what makes you happy

I have learnt in Business , dont tell your customer you are going to do something  unless you are 100% you are going to do it and when things go a stray communicate it as soon as possible

Surely the recent announcment answering faq's about the 2020/2021 season tickets would have been the perfect oppotunity to give a quick update on  the 2019/2020 refunds whether it was good or bad news
