  1. My bad - this was the article about Madri, and they said it was "rumoured by sources close to Molson Coors to be Coors Light with added hop extract." - Not Carling as I said https://classbarmag.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/1000/Playing_the_Spain_game_-_how_beer_from_the_Med_became_big_business_.html
  2. Yeah hopefully, they manage to carve out a bit more of their own sound. I saw the record cover and thought - OK this lot are going to sound a lot like The Stone Roses aren't they? They did not disappoint!
  3. It's OK -my son bores me with this stuff all the time as he's a brewer by profession. And I did say that it's NOT "just Carling" - but a deliberately tweaked recipe to make it different enough to be it's own thing, whilst at the same time similar enough to not vastly increase the ingredient and production costs Since my operation I've become quite the connoisseur of Eurolager, as I can't drink craft nonsense anymore and pure filtered lager is the only thing that doesn't upset my stomach. There really isn't a great variation in taste as it's largely all made the same way and from very similar ingredients. I'd suggest that very few people would be able to accurately ID very many mass-produced lagers in a blind taste test And don't get me started on "craft lager"
  4. Also - yes. In the UK they are brewing it to 4.4%, whereas the real stuff in Spain is 4.8%
  5. I have to say, it's one of my favourite Spanish lagers to drink on holiday but it's hard to differentiate it over here from the usual cooking lager that we get (I'm looking at you Carling Black Label) I was surprised to see it appearing everywhere in the UK as it used to be a rare treat to find it here, but it looks like Heineken have done their usual. It's not Spanish lager at all. They did the same with Moretti See also Madri - suddenly everywhere - brewed in the UK by Molson Coors with huge amounts of money spent on marketing, but the word on the street is that it's just the Carling recipe tweaked ever so slightly so no one can say it's "just Carling"
  6. Have watched the first two episodes of "A Man In Full" on Netflix, as their algorithm was adamant it was up our strasse. I hope it gets interesting soon 🥱
  7. Just saying https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-england-suffolk-68964857
  8. Thing is, that catchphrase became just a comedic thing when i was a kid, but watching the episode again as an adult it was heartbreaking and deeply moving. The whole thing really captured the damage that the Tories did to the mental health of a generation of people (mostly men) who suddenly found themselves on the scrap heap as the unemployment rate went through the roof
  9. I will keep plugging Shrinking. If you fancy something that isn't a gritty crime or drug ring drama 😂 Some fantastic performances and Harrison Ford in particular is brilliant in it
  10. I always enjoyed Ryan Conway's stuff - it helped that he wasn't a blind faith Derby fan, so his angle was always balanced. I know that some people took a dislike to him for some reason. He was also very vocal about calling out racist abuse in the game. 🔗
  11. This was the op I had - just coming up to two years ago. Let me tell you - there is no better feeling that having a normal poo every day after all that!
  12. I'm not anti-EV either. I would just rather the EVs were efficient integrated public transport EVs and we stopped with the folly of cars being a status symbol and everyone in the family needing to have one.
  13. I was just reading Elton's latest brain-fart though. He's decided that Tesla can somehow harness all the compute power of the Teslas sat on driveways while not being driven, as some sort of grid computing network... to do "stuff" Aside from this maybe annoying the owners who have charged their car for travel, and not for waking up to find it needs charging again because it's been doing "stuff" all night - this will also surely reduce the battery life long term. Or at least totally invalidate current battery life projection figures Still - it gets the investors excited and maybe props the share price up a bit longer eh?
  14. With respect it's not up to @Day - it's up to Mr Clowes!
  15. I haven't got a driving license, is it OK if I just lie on your back seat?
  16. YES! As I said in the promotion celebrations thread May Day weekend upon us, surely it would be a great idea. (players can't have booked holidays as the play-offs were still a vague possibility so should still be around) 1) Allow the fans to show their appreciation one more time 2) Allow the players and staff another chance to soak in their achievement and feel the love 3) boost the hospitality takings in town What's not to like? And yet over an Facebook you see people saying that an open-top bus celebration would be "an embarassment" because we "only came second". Yet we had a bus when we finished third in 2006/07 and went up via the play-offs...
  17. I keep ringing her but she never answers. What is she doing?
  18. You can bet that Clowes plan does not involve extending PWs contract any time soon He hired Warne specifically for his experience in getting teams out of L1. A very canny move that worked No reason to suggest that Clowes will suddenly start taking stupid risks in the Championship with a manager unproven in that league My guess would be that Clowes keeps faith in PW until it becomes clear that it's not working, at which point he will execute his Plan B and get an experienced proven Championship manager in PW is effectively in Rosenior's shoes
  19. I hope so - with May Day weekend upon us, surely it would be a great idea. 1) Allow the fans to show their appreciation one more time 2) Allow the players and staff another chance to soak in their achievement and feel the love 3) boost the hospitality takings in town What's not to like? 20. Ah yes, the international scale unit of a banana
  21. After the excitement of the football, we ended up coming home and watching "Strays" on Sky Cinema A live action/CGI comedy film about talking dogs, but none of the feel-good family film factor that you might expect. Full of swearing, jokes about humping stuff and some proper laugh out loud/gross moments. Script was good enough that I didn't really notice the dogs mouths being animated. Jamie Foxx and Will Ferrell voice the two main characters If you have dogs you will find it hilarious promotion/10
  22. As PW said in his post match interview,he was glad Bird scored as it made him look good for picking him 😂
  23. Watching at home, and I dunno why but at the end, with the crowd on the pitch..they panned over to Igor in the stands and he was filming it on his phone with this inscrutable look on his face. It just totally got me...😭
  24. It's not like they announced it as a great new change in the law, it's just a consequence of rising inflation, increasing poverty and total lack of investment in public services. All driven by a system being rigged for the benefit of the super rich. Effectively there aren't enough police to warrant dealing with (relatively) low value shoplifting. Same with almost all low level crime. But of course the game is to then make it a reason to have people hate the poor - "look at them, stealing with impunity!" I think we all know which people in society steal the most money from the system and it ain't poor people!
