  1. Oh hello - would this surprise anyone? https://www.planetcritical.com/p/everybody-wants-gazas-gas
  2. The problem here is that the media are now addicted to polarising issues in order to survive. If they can create a "them and us" scenario and get both sides arguing like crazy about it, their ad counters spin like a money machine But, what I've observed on this issue is that actually, the majority of people have settled on a consensus that war is bad, killing is bad and that there ought to be a concerted effort from our governments to try and broker some peace. Not wave through the idea of the Israeli "defence" strategy continual indiscriminate killing of children, as somehow being a proportionate response. It's obvious in this thread. We are usually at each others throats over stuff but look at which posts are getting the most cheers and likes. There is no media incentive to report on the consensus. Depressing
  3. Spot on - anyone who wears a poppy and has a problem with someone who doesn't, is simply proving that they don't really understand what the poppy signifies
  4. So Tommy Robinson and his right wing thug mates have got involved in counter protests and are fighting with the police and chanting "England Til I Die" I can't work out what their angle is here - counter to what? The peaceful march is an anti-war one. So he's....pro war?
  5. What a world we live in where a headline like this will have him derided in certain quarters as being "woke"
  6. I really struggle to understand how anyone who is anti-war and wants to protest against yet another war being waged on foreign soil while western governments (and the military industrial complex) nod approvingly - would consider threatening violence against poppy sellers is in line with their belief system
  7. The story of x.com is quite interesting. He's paid a lot of money for the specific domain name twice, and seems obsessed with it yet incapable of realising that it really doesn't work as a domain name at all https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X.com_(bank)
  8. What game did you watch? Crewe didn't grow into anything other than growing the number of them in their own box from 9 behind the ball to 10 behind the ball. They soaked up pressure and took 2 chances on the break. A simple game plan that very nearly worked for them. Let's not pretend they looked like a better team than us 😂 I hate games like that.
  9. Was that the one in 2003 where Ian Taylor got sent off? That was the first away game I ever took my eldest lad too. We had a cracking day out on the train but the game was abysmal (or at least Derby were) According to this website it was the first time we'd played them in the league since 1957! https://www.11v11.com/matches/crewe-alexandra-v-derby-county-18-october-2003-17682/
  10. Having watched Ice Hockey live many times, and witnessed the speed at which the game is played - I would struggle to believe that anyone could deliberately do this. It's like one of those "open-goal misses" you sometimes get in football, where if you'd said to the player, "when this ball is crossed to you, you will be two yards out from goal and I want you to deliberately try and put it over the bar" - they could try 100 times and still wouldn't be able to do it. But in the moment, when acting on instinct alone - anything can and does happen
  11. Unbelievable - don't anyone go saying that war is bad on Remembrance Sunday - of all days!. He'll have us know that it's a very lucrative business if done right 😔
  12. All we need now is for China to make their inevitable move on Taiwan. 😔 Anyone willing to bet against that happening?
  13. And the last mainstream UK politician who did try to negotiate peace in the Middle East was smeared as an anti-semite terrorist sympathiser for even trying to have that dialog, so it's little wonder that no current politicians daren't go near the idea 😞
  14. A sign of quite how messed up the world is when the devastation in Acapulco barely made it into my newsfeed and I've only just read about what happened now, a week later. Rising ocean temperatures led to what they believed to be an imminent tropical storm to rapidly intensify in wind speed at an unprecedented rate within a matter of hours, leaving no time to evacuate or take precaution. Suddenly they were just being hit by 165mph winds I know that some will yet again dismiss it as "fear mongering" but this actually happened and the science points to it happening again and again as ocean temperatures increase
  15. The irony is that we had so many trick or treaters this year that we ran out of sweets (and we had a massive tub full to start with) In the end I was just giving out fags to all the kids as I couldn't stand to see their disappointed faces
  16. Its the Derby way! An indifferent first couple of months to divide the fans, then a good run in November/December to get our hopes up Join me here in February to see what happens next!
  17. It's a very good point - probably too late for you now
  18. It's ok, gallows humour. We all have to die and I'd rather go having a good time in the pub than run over by a car or something 😂
  19. Countdown to the first Warne hater telling us that we should be beating Northampton easily and that this is not in anyway a sign that they are impatient and entitled spoiled dimwits who can't bear to deal with the fact that sometimes we might lose a few games
  20. My local pub did fund raising to get one fitted outside. This makes me feel much better as it's probably the place where I'll need it eventually
  21. From the BBC - did they get it wrong. Apologies if so I'm not even sure that you realise you are confirming my argument. All managers would be successful if only for a, b and c being slightly different, so what is the point in continually calling for managers to be sacked when they don't win a game that you personally believe they should have won? It's one of the worst elements of football fandom
  22. I assume this is a joke Was he good enough to get us promoted at Wembley when we lost 1-0 to QPR despite them having 10 men? Was he good enough to get us promoted the following season when we sat in 1st place on three separate occasions, but then didn't even make the play-offs on the final day, losing 3-0 to Reading on the final day, when all we needed was a draw? Was he good enough to get us promoted when he came back and didn't even last a year before he was sacked for only winning 1 game out of 9? Honestly - the stuff people come out with
  23. It's called Kleptocracy I believe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleptocracy
