  1. That's absolute garbage. Musk has explained at great length how people paying for blue ticks now have their content boosted by his algorithm, and those that don't pay for a blue tick have their content suppressed. If that's not "having your feed controlled by others" then I don't know what it is. The platform is now a complete waste of time. I've stopped looking at it, but the last time I did I was surprised to see that I had two dozen notifications. Every single one was spam of some description
  2. My internet connection is bad here. Can someone check if "sadistically wishing to witness the brutal death of people I disagree with" is allowed within the forum rules?
  3. I was going to pull you up on that very point - it's been a good 30 years, probably since around the formation of the Premiership that money has ruled supreme. The oil-rich Arab nations getting involved was always inevitable. They are just the next level of this poo show For a long time I've expounded on my idea of a nationalised football league where every team was fan-owned by the people of the town it represented and could only sign players from that town. I've probably even mentioned it here before. It's a silly dream, but who could honestly say that it wouldn't reconnect the game to the fans? When we sing "he's one of our own" about a player doesn't it feel great? It wasn't until I went to Bilbao in the summer that I realised Athletic Bilbao have been doing this for nearly 100 years and have been pretty successful with it too https://playfundwin.com/blog/athletic-bilbao-football
  4. Not when you look at all the accounts which had been banned for that sort of stuff that he has deliberately let back onto the platform. And as you admit - he's not averse to quote tweeting anti-semitic stuff himself. Which even though you "clearly don't agree" with him doing that - you're happy to fight his corner? Carry on - it's a good look πŸ™„
  5. Good luck to him. How can he prove it's "demonstrably false" when he admits in his statement that it's entirely possible for adverts to be served alongside objectionable hate posts - because they proved it! His argument seems to be that they somehow manipulated the platform into proving the point. Good luck suing someone for that How about he just doesn't allow racist, white supremacist, nazi posts in the first place? Or failing that (because we all know he deliberately bought twitter in order to increase that sort of thing) - how about he offers his advertisers a tier where they can select the "please don't serve my ads next to racist content" box So much of it is on him - and yet again his petulant entitled billionaire response it give it all billy big-balls stuff about "thermonuclear" lawsuits. Whatever one of them is πŸ˜‚
  6. Fair play you got me guv - there is also the bit where he posted his agreement with an anti-semitic conspiracy theory, and the bit where companies ads are being served up next to racist posts. But actually it doesn't matter at all what it's "about" - the important bit is that he's a free speech absolutist who is launching a lawsuit against people saying and doing things he doesn't like.
  7. I totally agree -there is nothing I would like more than to see a man on the moon in my lifetime, and given that we did it before over 50 years it feels like a definite possibility that it could happen again. Mars though I am deeply deeply sceptical about. My prediction would be that the best we could hope for is a single manned mission where those who set foot on Mars die as martyrs to the cause (even Space Karen has admitted that this is an inevitability) There will never be a human colony on Mars. No matter how much we all like to dream about it, Just my opinion. obviously as a realist who understands science and not some weird cult-member deifying Elon Musk as our "saviour". It's all so obviously smoke and mirrors that I feel very sorry for those who have fallen for him. Completely laughable and embarrassing behaviour for a grown-up. That's all. OK - let's just stick to the watching rockets explode
  8. I see the free speech absolutist is now threatening to launch a "thermonuclear lawsuit" in attempt to silence people on his platform who he disagrees with. He has such little man energy.
  9. The bottom bit exploded when it wasn't meant to and the top bit has disappeared without a trace Unsurprisingly serial moron Elon and his dickhard fanbois are describing it as a great success πŸ˜‚
  10. I saw the picture of him that his wife posted on twitter the other day. Poor guy looks like he doesn't have long left 😒 Might be worth a fiver on Fairytale of New York as the Xmas #1
  11. As if - it's always been this way. My 80 year old parents have spent their lives reading the Daily Express and they have been brainwashed just the same. When we have them over for dinner, they repeat all the same talking points from the front pages, but when I ask them to explain why they feel that way about a subject - they can't. The only difference between then and now is that the internet makes it easier for people to share their brainwashed opinions with strangers and find people who agree with them (sadly the trade-off is that they find just as many people who disagree with them and want to have a big argument about it πŸ˜‚)
  12. Well, of course - you want to look cool when you die a horrible death because some deranged billionaire didn't want to listen to the science that says a human colony on Mars was an impossible fantasy
  13. Space Karen is probably just sore that he couldn't bribe his way out of it
  14. I don't think it's ridiculous to have safeguarding measures in place to ensure that wildlife and the planetary ecosystem is not adversely affected by what is effectively large scale engineering work The idea of super rich people and corporations thinking that they are above such things is one of the biggest problems the planet faces. It's sorted now, and that's a good thing.
  15. Yeah - we watched Season One of Undercover and thought it was OK. Enjoyed it enough to watch Season Two, but agree it got a bit ridiculous. Hence we haven't ever bothered watching Season Three (where the main Undercover cop and Ferry fortuitously end up working on a case together?!). Toyed with the idea of watching the Ferry film, but realised he wasn't that good a character. Didn't realise he now had his own series. I guess it must be a popular show in Holland to have spawned all of these spin-offs, sequels and prequels At the moment we're watching Wanted on Netflix (a kind of Thelma and Louise buddy/road movie about two women who get accidentally caught up in a bent cop/drug op gone bad). Same deal really - first season was decent, second season started to get a bit silly and now we're nearly at the end of season three (the final one thankfully) and you're like "oh what a surprise, these hapless women have yet AGAIN escaped from police custody due to some freakish turn of events". Always sad when good shows outstay their welcome
  16. You're right that I didn't mean to infer any of that, but point taken on the wording
  17. Can't work out of you're taking the mick or not - sexism?? But if the mention of zionism is the bit you think is anti-semitic then I should point out that it's her words not mine. In the Jewish Chronicle https://www.thejc.com/news/politics/police-must-understand-that-jews-do-count-says-braverman-4Q7armNPfrgXcW2P2VIv65
  18. All for balance! I think that's why the thread is not dissolving into the usual left vs right bickering - Starmer's cowardice on the issue is also indefensible Bearing in mind that he's a trained Human Rights lawyer - this video just about sums it up. I'll let everyone watch it and make up their own mind
  19. I hadn't appreciated that the outgoing home secretary's husband was a zionist. Probably a slight conflict of interest there...
  20. I guess because someone died, and clearly another person unintentionally caused that death, there have to be manslaughter charges? Hopefully it's dealt with quickly and sensitively, and the mitigating circumstances don't lead to a custodial sentence. I imagine that the Steeler's player responsible can't feel any worse than he already does πŸ˜”
  21. Stage far-right surely πŸ˜‚
  22. Except everyone looks at him and says Weren't you the guy who stuck your old chap in a pigs head?
