A minority. Only 1 person at the time said something to Adam and he knew him. No one complained to stewards at the time... Very much a reactive complaint. Plan was always if Adam got heat during the game he was going to leave area..

If anyone thinks this drum is loud then they clearly didn't go to see Motorhead at Rock City. My ears are still ringing and it was about 15 years ago 😂

This is the problem Angie... In anything that is tried or tested it will always be a case of someone taking issue with it...

You know what its actually not! The only ones that tend to be bothered are the fans that are not up for it. And I guess that is the problem here. We wouldn't be in this situation if everything was rosy.
If everyone around it is joining it you dont notice it, if anything it makes you sing lounder whilst the drum keeps the tempo. I think many think we are talking a huge drum here that has some serious base.
Just trying to make a difference before many fans lose interest.

In all honestly Mr RoyMac this would be the desired plan. However, it would mean displacing fans currently and the club are not keen as we speak. This was mentioned to them months ago.

Look forward to it mate, last time I went was 1984 and we spent more time on the pitch than the players 😂

Bloody hell, Nick, it's like groundhog day. All these years and your stilI up against it 😂 Fair play for persevering.
I remember the amount of effort than went into securing the South Stand by yourself and others. All done for no personal benefit, just a collective desire to improve the atmosphere. Numerous meetings, numerous setbacks and a few false starts before things got sorted. It was always about creating a dedicated singing stand and it was advertised as such. The drum was always part of the arrangement and was there from the beginning. It was not something that was sprung on unsuspecting supporters without warning. I feel that a lot of fans originally went into the South Stand because of the cheap tickets and that's perfectly fine, but it was with the knowledge that it was a singing stand. It's like buying a cheap house that is next to a noisy factory and then complaining about the noisy factory. It was cheap for a reason. Other area's are available.
My general take on atmosphere - keep the songs simple, keep them going (other supporters will cut in and out depending on the action), bin the swearing, it's not needed, use the drum sparingly to start a song or keep a rhythm if needed, and most of all use the atmosphere to lift the players when they need it most e.g. just after conceding etc. Even if just a small group persist with the singing then other people will join in in due course.
On a lighter note, believe it or not, I am considering attending a game - Shrewsbury away as it is the nearest ground to where I now reside so would be great to catch up.
P.S - Send my regards to Adam, he deserves a medal.

Saddens me to say but I find the younger generation dont like the original club songs like We are Derby etc .. Kind of feels that they need to sing all this European lark all the time.. Don't get me wrong there is a place for some of them songs but sure we can all agree old school songs about your club are the best.

    I think it's a bit of a shame.
Further evidence that some in the South are only there because it's one of the cheaper areas. That being said, I used to play the drums and can fully understand not wanting it in close proximity.
It does feel a bit 'what do you want?' when people complain about a lack of atmosphere - but then complain about what fans are trying to do to combat it, without actually offering any alternatives.

Very valid fair point at the end there. Just seems everything anyone tries to do is shot down because a minority few dont agree with it hence why I keep banging on about 3 other stands. I could understand if this all of a sudden popped up in the East or West Stand for example.
Atmospheres at football are dying in England except for a few clubs that are doing something about it. Even Arsenal. I mean come on.....

Its really not a case of someone just tunelessly smashing a drum all game though is it... Its joining in with said song at the time and again I question if you are not joining in with the song what's the point of being there.
It has been mentioned about making a special block available in Block D for example but this would mean turning fans out of there seats who want to be there - hardly a win win. There are no available seats, this is the issue.
It's not about the other end of the ground hearing it.

So you have the option of moving to 3 other stands. Fair compromise?
    It's hardly people going deaf.
I would question why anyone would be in the South Stand that would be too focused on someone banging a drum, they should be joining in singing to not even be bothered by that.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the South Stand was introduced alongside the drum. Was part of it.
Issue i have ... Wigan game .. Not one moan on the socials of it in the stands yet actual complaints into the club via calling them and emails.
Rhythm has been completing wrong last few years as down below and I am sure we can both agree that its absolutely pointless down there.
Its simply there to keep tempo going.

I dont even sit with the guys mentioned Tombo.
What i meant by the cancel culture. Zero complaints in 3 years where the drum originally was to many complaints after 1 game. Everyone feels the need to complain and whinge about everything these days. You could argue I am doing the same mind but thats a reaction.
I dont think for one minute I was saying it was. Please dont try and put me or 'my pals' on that pedestal. Trying to improve the atmosphere for everyone. Kind of the atmosphere that gets that little bit more out of the players to help us win games. It helps. Ask the players.

That's what we asked for ... It was always a trial .. I genuinely believe perhaps if we had won nothing more would of been said and fans would have enjoyed it .. Like the many other games where it was great! Can always drag up the youtube videos.....

    This
The football noise this weekend from the EPL was very very limited, You have to ask yourself WHY!, I've a friend who's a Spurs fan and a season ticket holder...lives in Ambergate, ST costs £6k he was a bit of a lad back in the day, Now he sits in the middle tier has a meal and a pint and watches the game in comfort...crazy aint it, When he can't make the game he sells the ticket for...wait for it £300...mental.
Times are changing and have been for a good few years, Songs have had their guts ripped out and changed for the TV customer as those don't like to hear those "nasty words" 😉, It's a tough call fella but if people are paying good money then it's money that calls the shots...as is always.
