This is our engine room Chris and it should work harder than any positions on the pitch … I do blame Warne for lack of control in games as well because although I get the two touch move it on I don’t always see a forward pass as necessary if a backward pass keeps possession as long as the forward pass was thought of as an option watching City when I go to Manchester uni to see my lad they make it look easy and control games overloading areas and outnumbering the opposition but also do the hard bit out of possession and this is where we are lacking in the centre I don’t see Bird as a strong influential type of player but we need one ….its ok looking ok against your Northamptons and Morecambes but its against the Peterborough’s and Portsmouths and Boltons where its most important Bird would benefit massively from a strong CM in there and a manager who actually wants to play through the thirds

You say Bird is our best player full stop …do you actually watch the games ?

But some want him out of the team and prefer Bird ....we lack goals from midfield as it is and Max doesn't score and never looks like scoring , yes that sounds sensible replace goals and assists with ????? The only reason I'd select Bird is if we signed a proper CM who can dictate the game and put a foot and head in where it hurts in a 3 man midfield then young Max might learn and flourish otherwise he tends to look like a passenger at times even though he does also show some neat touches I'd like our midfield to run through brick walls and they don't and to be honest don't think Hourihane has that in him now but Max does so lets see it ...who is the ball winner in midfield?? we might not play enough through the midfield because of Warne i get that but we still need tacklers and strong players in there when we lose the ball or the other team break because the middle of the pitch is important and we don't have any steel in there we definitely need a strong winner in the centre of the park...100%

This exactly …I’ve watched Ipswich and Saints this season …a joy to watch and after watching us all season is like chalk and cheese

I have been at the Peterborough academy quite a few times when my son was playing against them and spoken many times with Peterborough scouts I can tell you now considering it’s a tin pot place and not great facilities at all they still manage to scout and churn out and find players and most go on to earn them money I don’t know what or how we scout players but i believe our facilities and stature would make us a very attractive proposition to a good young player They seem to be able to get players quickly from lower level to first team and it keeps them ticking along financially we are yet to see the fruits of labour from the bloke from Oxford but let’s hope he can walk the walk because it would help massively

I’m not sure I’d call that good management either going into the last few days of window where we might have to get back an 18year old striker who rarely plays because we only have 1 fit striker how about our recruitment team explore other avenues …just in case we are down to 1 fit striker …eg like we are now im talking about players maybe on loan like other L1 and L2 clubs manage to do I’d say Taylor the lad who couldn’t finish against us for Lincoln and Hugill from United or players of similar ilk would be better then let Brown get much needed experience in conference As a management team we never seem to foresee any pitfalls in our supposed plan and from a fans pov appears like we are clutching at straws have a plan and a back up plan and a back up plan to that ….its called good management Smith is a no go so go and get someone else there are plenty of good players out there we just don’t see them …good job Nyambe was recommended by BJ it wasn’t our recruitment / scouting team

I think a gauge of how well thought of Warne is is this ( Its not going to happen but ) if it was announced right now that Warne was being replaced with Warnock who has been given the soul objective of getting us top two would most be excited by that or really disappointed? I know I’d be putting money on us going up because he wouldn’t put up with lame performances like Tuesday

I’ve said it before but it is not Warnes fault this job was his big chance but he’s not the right choice never was if it was because he has a good record of getting promoted so have many others …Warnock for example The reset with limited funds gave us a chance to build with youngsters and the odd bit of experience but rarely do we see youngsters given a chance I want sustainability not just get out of L1 …the football we see is not great and I do believe Warne was not the right choice but I do like him as a person and don’t think personal insults are necessary ….i do wonder if Clowes ever regrets changing Rosenior because I firmly believe we’d be top of the league if he’d stayed but yes the football wouldn’t had pleased everyone. But give me controlled football every day of the week over end to end basketball type matches that could go either way …

Does make me laugh when I hear Hourihane being compared with Bird one is 32 and I suspect came here and was brought here to do virtually what he’s doing last night Hourihane received a really bad challenge but at least tries to put a foot in …young max will try and nick it rather than put his body on the line Hourihane is what I expected and chips in with goals I’m afraid Bird seems a nice little player who you don’t notice much If you were looking at Max there is no way you’d think …yes our team needs him in our midfield as he’s not influential and doesn’t do the hard part without the ball occasionally Bird will show some neat touches and a nice bit of skill but occasionally is the problem we need a more influential midfielder who will bark orders and dictate the game a bit that is not Max or Hourihane but Houriahne would get in any side in L1 Max wouldn’t Bird is still learning and needs a dominant player next to him instead he’s being asked to do what he’s not comfortable with Hourihane is what he is but I expect more from Max he needs to step up and take some responsibility but he doesn’t so get a really strong CM in who max can benefit from as Hourihane is not that player I would play 3 in midfield all day long and getting the right player to go in there is more important than any striker at the moment but the biggest problem I think is the fact the midfield is not as important to Warne as it is to a lot of fans ….he wants two touch move the ball on …not control and be knowledgeable as to when to pass and when to keep the ball I really hope the football we’re watching at the moment is not long term but I doubt it ….its not great and that starts with the manager

We will make the play offs but if we don’t hopefully it means Warne will be gone even if we somehow managed to get up I don’t want Warne leading us into a championship campaign wrong choice of manager and easier to say when we play badly of course but even some of the victories haven’t been great This group of players are good enough to control games but we don’t and that’s because of how we try to play that comes from our management team Lincoln was like a basketball match with no goals was way too open we could easily had won 2-0 and equally had lost 3-0 yes we will win a few but can anyone honestly say the football we are seeing will carry us very far when we used to lose games under Mac1 we still often looked the better side the play off final being a massive reminder of that ….we go again Saturday COYR

Hourihane is an ageing midfielder who scores a few and nearly scored tonight Bird is younger but just as slow and although can be be neat and tidy he doesn’t score or seem to want to get involved …you can only have one of them in mid for me and it wouldn’t be young max I’m afraid felt for Thommo tonight because I thought he did quite well and has more energy
