They're fine due to Covid related adjustments

In the short term yes, but their parachute payments have now come to an end. Are they really going to reduce their losses to £2-3m per season from now on though? I can't see that happening. Is their claim against us just a desperate attempt to claw back some of that lost income?

People need to read my posts ?

The post below is an amazing (estimated) breakdown, which shows we made losses greater than £4m in more than just 3 seasons.
The final penalty was for 3 failed periods (2014-2017, 2016-2019 and 2017-2021), so 3 breaches. Based on precedent, those 3 failed periods should have seen us deducted 17 points.

Note, this was WITH the stadium sale included.

OK, makes sense given those numbers but why do your figures vary so greatly from those published in this Guardian article?

Might be wrong, but I think it was a £4m loss in three consecutive periods (so 3 points x3). Again - this means we are punished three times for one breach and assumes we would not have addressed the loss in the first period at the time if that had been apparent.

Not heard of that before, I though it was just £39m over 3 seasons, which we don't appear to have breached when the stadium sale is included. The administrators seem to have taken the view that they'll take the 9 points to get the EFL off our backs as we're probably heading for relegation anyway, and it smooths the way for the sale of the club. If that's true then Boro and Wycombe have even less of a case.

  4. I'd be grateful if someone could explain exactly how we have breached FFP. From what I've read for the 3 years in question we made losses of £14.7m, £8m and £25.3m, so £48m in total. However the sale of the stadium generated £39.9m thus reducing the 3 year loss to £8m. That just seems to leave the alternative amortisation method that we used. Did that really account for an additional £31m+ loss or am I missing something?

And what are the debts of other similar sized Championship clubs? It looks alarming but is it that out if step with similar clubs with similar revenue streams?

If the figures banded about are to be believed then Blackburn are £140m and Stoke £170m in debt to their respective owners.

More than happy to alter my 4 to a 3 . I really think he is poor , maybe I haven't forgiven him for his two Clangers at Wembley against villa

Not sure which match you were watching last night, but other than one poor distribution and releasing the ball when he landed hard after going over Huddlestone (which we were fortunately awarded a free-kick for) he didn't do a lot wrong. He's certainly more commanding in the air than he has been previously. We all know he's made mistakes in the past but at the minute he's doing a reasonable job.

Saying that I still think his petulant tackles at times don't do him any favours

I can’t disagree with that, he certainly needs to cut that out of his game or at least temper it. However we’re currently a team devoid of much attacking intent and he’s one of the few players who could make a difference.

Has Sibley actually been told that by Rooney ?

We don't really know for certain. What we do know is he's not getting much game time and when he does he's put out wide, rather than in the number 10 position that he should be. Personally I think we're wasting his talent and from where I'm sitting it looks like that's down to mismanagement by Rooney. I fear he'll end up leaving for a fraction of his true value and end up fulfilling his potential elsewhere.
