  1. How were they used to belittle anyone? It was part of a larger point about the mentality of those wanting to publicly criticise, irregardless of the medium through which that criticism is voiced. The strange part is you go on to explicitly agree with me below... For criticism to be constructive, it has to showcase nuance. This doesn't apply to some comments about Bradley i've read on here, so the point still stands, even if his 'outburst' was on a different platform.
  2. Isn't that the fun of rivalries though, the 'love to hate' mentality of it all? Also I think attendances get brought up so much because it's about the only thing in the fans' control. I know it's due to capacity, but getting bigger attendances 2 leagues below is still very funny (even if it invites the obvious, yet effective comeback)
  3. Not sure what angers me more, the idea that some fans haven't heard of Steve Bloomer, or that U f****** 2 is a better replacement for the song. This thread is an utter mess 😂
  4. Yes, by showcasing nuance within the comments. The discourse about youth progression I thought was fair game- I may disagree, but I can understand those that want more youth progression and why they don't believe this is a priority under Warne. On the balance of things recently, there isn't much to criticise Warne for. We've been the best team in the league for the last couple of months. The positives he's overseen more than mitigate any negatives. When we lose though, it feels like this balanced perspective goes out the window for some and go straight back to the doom and gloom. Sonny Bradley passively aggressively liking tweets openly criticising him last week made me sad. Why are some fans hellbent on publicly trashing our own staff? Completely counter-intuitive.
  5. I'm of the opinion that if you're calling for the manager's head, or voicing more negativity than anything else, then you're not united behind the team. Actively contributing to the negative dialogue that we have proof the players themselves see doesn't feel too supportive to me- but that's just my take.
  6. I thought that's what you meant but wasn't 100% clear from your wording haha. For a more serious response, he's not bought a player yet. I don't think he's working in these amazing circumstances under which any manager should thrive. I think he's showing more adaptability than many would have expected. To go on the run we just have is a good achievement, but we need to repeat it now. No shame in losing to that Peterborough side- best I've seen since we've been in League 1. But we need to rally back again now. I'm okay with conditional support from the Warne doubters. I think most have learned their vocal criticism early in the season was short-sighted following our unbeaten streak, and they're entitled to their critiques. I just hope we can all unite behind the side for the remainder of the season now.
  7. The idea they've had to pay even more money to get rid of him is the icing on the cake for me. There's something beautifully ironic about this whole fiasco- they came to PP and sang about us dying, only to find themselves with the exact manager we had at that time, absolutely tanking it down the league table, and with dodgy finances to go with; almost like they learned nothing from our mistakes... Long may it continue 😂
  8. You're right, I totally forgot Nyambe plays upfront... 😂
  9. The 'Minimum' column makes for interesting reading. I wonder what Washington did to get a 0? 😂
  10. I'd chuck a really cheeky lowball bid in for him, Savage, and maybe even Ehibhatiomhan. They might not be in a position to say no with the state of their finances...
  11. This seems a tad unfair. Both seemed to struggle playing in a back 3, but particularly Cashin; I think both have thrived in the more traditional back 4 setup where the centre half role is more easily defined. Don't think Bradley had much to do with it- if anything I actually blamed Nelson for unnecessarily playing the ball back to him under press and putting him in a pressured position to make the mistake in the first place against Wigan... game of opinions eh
  12. ATG 1Wildsmith - 6 - Didn't have much to do. 23Ward - 5.5 - Probably not solid enough defensively to play as a traditional fullback, but he is likely the best crosser of the ball in the entire squad. Need to rethink what we want to do with him. 2Wilson - 8.5 - Did well at RB, although think we're correct converting him to a winger/wide midfielder as his talents definitely lay in his offensive work. MotM for me. 35Nelson - 8 - Impresses me more and more with each passing game. Absolute rock. 6Cashin - 7.5 - Solid both on and off the ball, formidable when paired with Nelson right now. 3Forsyth - 7 - After a below par performance v Wycombe, normal service resumed. 4Hourihane - 7 - Came alive after he scored and actually started showing for the ball and dropping into the quarterback role. Decent. 16Thompson - 6 7Barkhuizen - 5 - Frustrating. Deserved his start but doesn't use his pace effectively, doesn't look strong enough in 50/50s, and wasteful crossing. 20Elder - 6 22Fornah - 6 - Still think we should play him as the deepest lying midfielder to best utilise his mobility. Playing as an #8 didn't suit him last night. 19Sibley - 7.5 - Big impact. Ball started to stick in the final third more and he linked play neatly. Far better fit as an #8 than Fornah on that showing. 8Bird - 6.5 - Classy as always, issue still being he's on a level higher than some around him which stops him always being effective as we're not playing to his strengths. 11Méndez-Laing - 6.5 - Quick thinking created the 2nd goal. Quiet in open play but they seemed prepared for the wide assault and defended resolutely on the wings. 19John-Jules - 6 9Collins - 7.5 - Great finish, chased and harried all game but didn't do much on the ball due to lack of service.
  13. There's this weird rhetoric running throughout this post where you entirely fail to give any credit to Warne, while still sneaking an unnecessary jab in (highlighted). The subs changed the game, you've said so yourself, so where's the credit to Warne for positively impacting the game with his choice of substitutions? You describe the 3rd goal as ''a superb goal''; literally made by the subs and change of style, aren't you openly contradicting yourself by saying Warne's football is bad if, by your own admission, we're scoring ''superb'' goals?
  14. I'd like to see: Wildsmith Nyambe Nelson Cashin Forsyth Fornah Bird Hourihane NML Barkhuizen TJJ It gives John-Jules a start to see more of what he's about, Barks has earned a start, more balanced midfield 3. Also allows us to bring Collins, Wilson, Ward etc. off the bench if needed for a change of tactic.
  15. I'd honestly rather just re-sign CKR if we're going down that route. What's the difference between 35 and 37 😂
  16. Thought Bird did okay, it's becoming more apparent for him with each passing game when others simply aren't on his wavelength- thought that was the case Saturday. Fornah adds energy, and I think that's most apparent when contrasted against Hourihane's style of play. He's also got excellent close control. He's a typical #4 to me, box to box. It seemed for Reading that he often played the furthest back of a 3 and I'd like to see him tried there over Hourihane at some point, but that's tricky because of the captaincy situation. The midfield balance still isn't quite right. Hourihane will go from running a game (Barnsley) to looking like a total passenger in the middle of the park, but that position/role needs consistency. Think 13/14 once Eustace came in how much more solid we looked as a team... it feels like that type of player is what the midfield's currently lacking.
  17. Just checked and no actual link to us. Joe Crann writing the original article:
  18. My issue with most referees aren't the calls themselves, but the complete inconsistency between similar decisions in the same game. Some officials are more lenient than others and there's always an element of subjectivity that's left at the referee's discretion. So when we get 5 bookings in the first half, the implication is that punishments are going to be severe, even for minor infractions of the rules ie. kicking a ball away... fair enough. So I've no issue with any of the bookings. But when she forgets to book their player at the dodgy advantage situation, lets Taylor completely ignore both the rules and her subsequent instructions, and does the square root of naff all to dissuade Wycombe timewasting; then it's understandable why the team that have been more harshly treated feel aggrieved. Many of these rules have been brought in to try stop time-wasting and other ''dark arts'' that have been previously alluded to on here. Her actions didn't stop this to any degree, and on the balance of the decisions, actually punished the team trying to play properly far more harshly than the ones actively trying to waste time whenever given the opportunity. And that's why it was an utter failure on her part, as the enforcement of the rules was the complete wrong way round for what they're trying to achieve...
  19. Easy to get players, difficult to get the right players at a reasonable price. He's just setting expectations, which is sensible. I think jumping straight to ''these are excuses'' already is a little unfair. He's proved doubters wrong on the field in recent weeks, maybe we should wait and see what happens before judging?
  20. I'd be slightly wary using B4's name for what could be seen as weaponised virtue signalling could backfire. Any kind of antagonistic react emote is capable of causing resentment, do we want B4's name and legacy attached to something that will stir negative emotions in some when used against them? Just a thought. Replacing the Ram symbol for the 'COYR' react on the other hand...
  21. In all honesty, I've not seen much abuse either way. Again, not saying it's not happened, just I haven't seen it. Realistically, if we can continue this form, it should serve as a unifying force, as ultimately, we all want to see Derby do well. Anything kicking off now is likely just a bit of a storm in a teacup. Anyone that vocally called for Warne to be sacked probably feels a bit sheepish (pun fully intended) at the moment as those comments now seem a tad short-sighted. I think fans who were ambivalent but disagreed with the negativity kind of got pushed unwittingly into the 'Warne In' camp, just as his success would validate their calls for patience- which has happened. Both of these sides will settle down now, especially if we keep winning. Ironically it's like Warne often says about things not being entirely perfect, nor dismal; it's nearly always somewhere in the middle.
