Negotiations ahve been going on for months. From what I remember seeing, he essentially wants to see a path into the first team (hence why he started getting minutes at the end of a few league games). It's possible he'll only a new deal if he's now allowed out on loan to play regularly, but West Ham want to keep him around just incase of an injury.

Gill is a 1st year scholar and hasn't played for the U21s yet. I expect he'll start to get a bit of U21 action next season, with Moloney 1st choice and Gough being an option at LB and LW. It's why I also expect Jeffcott to go back to Arsenal at the end of his loan. Bartley is 20, whilst KRobinson is 18 (2nd year scholar). There's also Cox, who has turned 18 today, but he has been out since November.

McIntyre is out of contractvin the summer and made of glass - he averages about 4 months a season out injured and was already injured for 3 months this season. Whislt Knibbs and Smith would strengthen us, they're contracted for a couple more seasons.

But we will have a bigger budget than at least 20 other teams in this division this season (I think we're top 2). Why do we need to take a bigger risk than them?

Not that it's relevant to Warne, but Hull have a net zero transfer spend over 2 seasons and are unlikely to have a top half wage budget this season. 2 years ago (in the Championship), their wage bill was less than what we're spending in League 1.
