Doubt it, he's said he isn't interested in midfield.

Where is Hourihane supposed to be playing then?
Any deeper and he may as well be goalkeeper.
Good point but I’m told we don’t play that way with the consensus of opinion on here .
Do you think Hourihane is a holding midfielder

So i think it’s been established we don’t need a holding midfielder as Warne doesn’t play that way.
Striker though is needed and I hope we all can agree on that -

Based on Transfermarkt, his most favoured formation during his managerial career is 433 (or variations of it), with 442 2nd.
433 - 103 times
442 - 80
343 - 76
4231 - 59
352 - 44
3412 - 13Very good research and I stand corrected as 4 at back 242 times
3 at the back 133 times

Will hughes was unproven in the championship and smashed it, age doesnt matter if your good enough, then your good enough. People always say bird is a dm? I achually think hes better going forward and think he is wasted in our team because he goes missing too much in that role saturday shown us that, one in more of a attacking role he played alot better
I’ve watched Robinson and as I say he’s a good lad maybe off the bench to start with .
Will Hughes was a talent no doubt about it.

Come on Curtains....you don't believe Warne picks his side based on likely fan reaction?
That's preposterous......
For a start, he'd never be able to please everyone,so he may as well please himself 😉
Oh and here’s me thinking Warne does bother what Derby fans think.
He is not impervious to criticism is he ! -

Maybe he'll play 3 - 4 - 3 and we'll see a different midfield?
Well to my knowledge that’s his preferred system but he’s never really stuck with it at Derby due to fan’s moaning about it if it goes wrong

That's been known for a while.
It was also said that the EFL asked for no amendments to the business plan that DCFC submitted to them.
Yes but it’s worth reminding people

I still would say an additional midfielder of the tougher nature would help although this is interesting

Nothing to do with Sibley just letting the winger run past him or Nelson not getting close enough to block the shot better then
They contributed.

But I can't find the exact verbatim quote from Warne for G Star Ram to study.
I wonder whether we might now see a swing of styles to 3 at the back to enable more in midfield?
Well Sonny Bradley certainly made a more powerful contribution when he came on against Cheltenham.
3 at the back is a possibility to make us more solid.
Nyambe has to come back in surely .

Not sure if you're watching the same game as me.
Hourihane spends most of the match alongside our centre backs.
Maybe he does but essentially he isn’t a holder .
His fault IMO for Cheltenhams goal. .
Having said that I like Conner but further forward
-
I should of said IMO .
Never mind .
I can see Roy’s point on this as Warne emphasis is on getting forward quickly as opposed to bolstering the midfield defensively which is often why teams run at us .
Warne may get us promoted with his style .
In essence Roy is right to say Warne doesn’t play with a holding midfielder.
-
So clarification needed .
If we are losing 6.8 Million in 9 Months then it’s difficult to bring in players .
I think we will be disappointed over incoming players without viable exits .

It's not that hard, it was discussed on here the other day.
He's on record (RamsTV before FGR at home last season) as saying he's aware that his way of playing leaves us open to the counter attack, but "thats how I want to play"
That might not mean he has a total disregard for suring up the midfield, but he's OK with the compromise - at least for the time being - if it means we're an attacking side and we try to win every match, even if it causes us to lose. He's not interested in draws.
We haven't been linked to, and he hasn't talked about, signing any midfielders specifically to fill the holding/defensive role, the one midfielder he has brought in who previously played that role plays further forward when playing for Derby, he uses our only other player to have history playing that position (Max Bird) in a more advanced role too.
It hardly takes a genius see where his priorities lie, whether you go quote hunting or not.
Ok so we might see more home games when we get overrun as we did against Peterborough and Cheltenham etc
Having said all this we are in prime position for a Top 2 fight but it’s unlikely IMO
Just think additions would help in those key areas .
