  1. I know there are some people willing to sit in the home end at away matches. I do wonder, seeing as a club like Carlisle don't have a massive fan base, whether some people might have considered sitting in the away end at a home game. Not suggesting it, of course.
  2. Can and should are different things. You can debate anything at anytime. It doesn't mean you should. It comes across to me as pure Monty Python to have a debate about sacking a manager two games out from a clubs greatest achievement since 2006/07.
  3. For good or ill, football is a results business. I nearly lost faith following the Crewe defeat in November (as I was nervous of the tactics), but a winning run put an end to that. Warne, should we gain promotion, will then have a two year contract playing in the Championship. I think, based on statements by Clowes, he would have a goal of keeping us up and everything else being a bonus. Failure there, and I think he would be in deep trouble. You ask about when to have the debate. Simple; it becomes live when any of the following happen: a) if we fail to go up - the debate starts immediately on us being knocked out the pay offs b) we go up, he get's a budget but it doesn't work and he offers no constructive approach to remedy the issue (effectively we are slow walking to relegation) - but this is next January/Feb at the earliest c) we are re-relegated, under all the circumstances. My point is that he is going for set goals, which i contend some are confusing for tactics. A strategy is: we get up, stay up and then, and only then, truly look to kick on. If he fails at any of these strategy, there are arguments the strategy has not worked. Tactics are how you get there. The tactics will change with the opposition, let alone the league. The players will improve as TV money will allow a better standard. The demands and the style of play will change. Our current tactics probably will not work. Warne's job will be to find the players and the tactics to meet his objective. We cannot judge him on a standard, when we demand he meets a completely different standard that is wholly divergent: we demand he gets results to win promotion, but in a less skilful league of flying tackles where fancy football gets you loads of possession and no end result (ala LR). We then criticise the lack of skill. Therefore, he has to win the promotion in front of him like beating the team in front of you. He is plainly succeeding here. We have no idea what a Warne side in the Championship will look like, never mind the tactics he would deploy - and nor do you nor anyone on this site. Rotherham gives a guide, but they did not have our resources and only tell you so much. The fact is, if he succeeds he has earned his shot
  4. That was my thinking, too. Also, with the play offs if they have nothing to play for they will start resting people to be fit for "mini-season" to start.
  5. The points they make are intangible and intangibles are hard to debate, but it doesn't make them right (or indeed wrong). We have no evidence of what a Warne Championship season with Derby would be like - and Rotherham are hardly thriving without him. There are issues with Warne's management, of course there are, but we have it in our hands to get promoted - and are two wins away. The idea this is the time to debate is absurd. It is like complaining at a lottery win because the Euromillions was the night before and would have netted far more. Never let the best be the enemy of the good" - Aristotle
  6. I think they like the novelty - and the fact it churns things up to have discussions about. We could have Klopp, lose a game, and the same remarks would be made. Or: "he's only here for the money" "he might understand Premier League tactics but he doesn't get the Championship" "his standards are too high - and they don't want to play for him" "he is a high budget manager that got 'lucky' with the players". Without Salah he is a busted flush" "I don't like his sense of humour". "he is signing players the top top clubs don't want. He should go after world class players, pay them peanuts and offer no transfer fee because we are Derby - don't they realise how lucky they are?"
  7. The team we have today, maybe. But we would purchase/sign a higher type of player. We can't do that in this league as the cost does not justify it - and they probably would say no anyway. Maybe half the usual team would make the cut with the rest becoming bit-part. You are assuming we would take no steps ahead of a Championship season; I think that highly unlikely.
  8. More appropriately: How much is he willing for David Clowes to pay for someone better?
  9. Agree. I think we have to go all at them and try and get that first goal. If we can, that strategy falls apart - and we can go onto win by three or four. But if we don't, it works incredibly well - and makes it more and more likely they will nick one (ala Northampton).
  10. Indeed. Would have won bar a wonder-goal
  11. Me, too. But think positive thoughts, as my therapist insists I do 🙂
  12. I know the feeling. I love away days on TV as much as home days at the ground. Without tempting fate, this could be one of the great away results for many-a-year. Keep it going!
  13. Agree. He is here on a two year deal. At the end of the two year, he and DCFC have no obligation to one another. I hope he carries on until the end of the season, and decisions from both parties will clearly be made. It will hardly be on a level with Brian Clough leaving. More, that's a shame...anyway, who are we replacing him with?...
  14. Or those of us (me) who are going on the 18th thinking I'd be back in UK for final. Pray for autos!!!
  15. If only - can never get an away ticket these days 🙂
  16. Indeed. I fail to see what function this serves.
  17. Indeed. I'm 6ft 4. If I am in front of you, you will see nothing. I feel guilty standing for the players walking out and the "Steve Bloomer song", let alone the whole game. I know I'm in the minority, but I do think going back to standing is a retrograde step. Like those who want to go back to no health and safety; dubious child-rearing techniques and Fahrenheit as it seems nostalgic.
  18. I agree home sell out; but, especially if they're already relegated, can't see Carlisle selling all of their allocation - or indeed, many seats at all. Could we reallocate much away seating to home for that match, if required?
  19. I said: The second thing to consider is the linesman is directly in line with Waghorn. He had the perfect "live" view and said there was nothing untoward. What the linesman saw I do not know. What I do know is that the linesman was a few paces to the side of Elder, directly in line with the action. Maybe there was an obstructed view, but he was directly in line. He was watching the action. He did not see it.
  20. I spent twenty minutes this morning slowing it down on the replay, watching frame by frame. It was impossible to tell whether at the moment the ball was level with his hand that it was actually at his hand or a second before. Unless you have the ultra HD of the Premier League, it is impossible to tell. Even a VAR system wouldn't disallow it as it was not clear and obvious. The second thing to consider is the linesman is directly in line with Waghorn. He had the perfect "live" view and said there was nothing untoward. It is clearly sour grapes from them (and take the heat off a defeat with whataboutery. As you say, if there had been deviation it would be hard to argue against.
  21. I would have been happy with 31,000. Actual crowd is staggering. FWIW, there were five empty seats in front of me.
  22. Perhaps; just perhaps, all those who doubted his "we need to have the right types of people" philosophy were themselves wrong.
  23. Indeed. I suppose with Billy we never had the opportunity to strengthen after what was of itself a miraculous promotion. I think, with all restrictions removed, will have the opportunity to buy players to cement us in the division. What matters is that we get up.
  24. Rev her up. I count 40 seats available two minutes ago.
  25. I think it'll be in the lower 31s as well. I believe hotels and airlines use the 1/20 rule that one in every 20 people that has paid won't come. Surely 1/20 ST won't come be that for work, illness, death, holiday etc.
