The Scarlet Pimpernel
I can only guess that Russell is happy to come to us and is waiting for the Clubs to agree a fee. We wouldn't be hanging around if Russell was after all this just to turn around and say "don't fancy Derby"
Don't Panic
Dundee Utd have to accept a bid before he can officially (cough cough) discuss terms so he cant say yes or no to any club until a bids actually accepted.....
davenportram
Dundee Utd have to accept a bid before he can officially (cough cough) discuss terms so he cant say yes or no to any club until a bids actually accepted..... Not quite - the club have to give permission for the player and buying club to talk to each other. Doesn't mean they have to accept the bid for this permission to be given. Gerry Daly
There will probably be another week of this. I think I'll just switch the computer off and get on with life for a bit and see how we are in a weeks time - by which time this thread will have 150 pages! Srg
And given he was going on holiday, we're probably only waiting for the right bid.
Don't Panic
Fair point but if they allow permission to talk then the selling club lose the stronger hand as the player can then try to force a move if he has already agreed I also think most clubs are also savy to our bidding style now starting low and adding
SuperSheep
Unless its Celtic that outbid us, I'm going to be furious if we don't get him for saying we've been linked for weeks.
The Scarlet Pimpernel
If we make a third bid it will either be agreed or it will be walk away time. We are close to the end game now. It may be Sam has to get each new bid sanctioned or maybe he has his maximum and he is negotiating within it.
Srg
I'd imagine other chairmen would get rather annoyed with our time-wasting.
Bridgford Ram
Interestingly he was in the SFA Team of the Year in 2011/12 but not last season.

ryanjohno94
I wish they would get on with and sign him instead of bids going up by 50k each time if Nigel wants him then buy him before other clubs get involved who can outbid us .
L_J_DCFC
Someone ask Appleby if we are making another bid
Anag Ram
I hope if we do sign him we make sure he gets fit. Scottish players are not used to the week in, week out intensity of the Championship and need to be prepared to do the hard work which enables them to help the side, not just score goals. I think we saw in Maguire a player who wasn't ready for the step up. I must admit I am quite excited about Russell and I hope it happens. Soon. FeedTheFish
I can see us missing out on this player now as other clubs will see that we have made a bid and will also want to snap him up quick
DcFc Dyycheee
Steve Nicholson @SNicholsonDT39s Russell latest: Talks continue, no second bid (I'm told there wasn't a first bid) and the figure of £1.25m is nonsense #dcfc #dcfcfans
davenportram
Dundee are publishing figures to try and get others interested because they know the player wants to leave and maybe they have given permission to us to talk to him and he's happy to join us.
