No one is keen to take on Aston Villa when all the players are unhappy and Randy Lerner just wants to turn a quick dollar.

He expects instant results/success.

The fans never give a new man a chance. They are the most miserable whingers on Radio WM phone-ins. Most Brummies prefer the Blues. (Even this lifelong Rams fan 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

After what happened to Alex McLeish, who in their right mind would want to face a set up like that?

Any manager would need to negotiate a brilliant golden handshake because no other team is keen on ex Villa managers.

While you can certainly blame Lerner for a lack of judgement in appointing McLeish, I'm not sure that he's after quick success - he's been there for a while and has put a hell of a lot of money in.

Trouble is that Villa are in a strange position (similar to Everton) - most people would expect them to be capable of almost guaranteed top 10 finish, but you really can't see them ever getting higher than that - they might win a cup, possibly (if they have a great season) push for Europe, but they're not going to get in the champions league - not sure that a lot of managers (and certainly their miserable fans) will put up with years of mid-table mediocrity while tying to develop a competitive squad (without chucking huge amounts of money at it....)
