Ok guys n gals, first quick recipe for any kind of fruit crumble;

350g fruit (fresh or tinned) if you're using fresh, you might want to sweeten it with a handful of canderel (if you're watching the calories) if not use normal sugar

50g marg, or if you want it to be a bit richer, you could use butter instead

100g sr flour

50g sugar

whack oven on 190C gas 5,

chuck sweetened fruit into an ovenproof dish

rub fat into flour until it resembles bread crumbs using your finger tips - don't rush, this is the theraputic part 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

add sugar, give it a mix up and spread evenly over fruit

bake for 30 mins or until fruit is cooked and the top is golden.

Oh, and save us a bit (but only if it's apple cos I can't stand rhubarb) 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

That sounds lovely but for me, I'd leave out most of the butter, I reckon you could get away with a third of that.

Anyroad Froggg, have ya got any left overs? 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

That's a good site Daveo, cheers.

I noticed a crumble recipe on there which adds oats to the flour and sugar to give it a more crunchy top. Excellent, I'm gonna give that a try. Add it to the above recipe campers.

I'll get some Scott's Porridge Oats and use the rest for breakfasts. Yum yum. I went right off porridge when I was younger cos me mother always used to put salt on it!! Horrible.

Mmm, I'd probably do that if I ate fish - but I hate the stuff. Might do it for Dav though, if he's good.

I noticed the recipe says to run egg under cold water before cutting it. I just do it straightaway but then I've got asbestos hands.

Here u go bris, i dont cook, so i cheat 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Take a white fish steak, lay on a big peice of in foil.

pour some puttanesca sauce over it (we can buy it in UK from Lloyd grossman) but if u make it u can use it for its original use on spaghetti, and freeze it.... then wrap it up in the foil and stick it in and cook it for 20 mins, serve with peas and rice

Fish in a Spicy/fishy (anchovy) tomato sauce, i love it. and it easy once you have the sauce.

That's sounds lush - but would you put in the whole tube of puree? The most I've ever used in one dish is 2tbs because otherwise wouldn't it over power everything else? Plus, you'd still have the basis of the sauce with the other toms?

Obviously the ingredients are pretty precise but you do not have to be quite so. Chop the veg as fine as as you can as they reduce into the sauce. Food processor if you have one.

On your recipe Mariyln I'd leave out the courgette and stick some thin slices of butternut squash in instead. No matter what I do to courgette, it still tastes of nowt. Maybe it's just me and my taste buds?

Morning campers, I've been trying to put in a clip of Nigella from youtube onto here - but I keep forgetting how to do it!! (feckin hate pooters)

anyway, for those who like the idea of a quick meal, check out Nigella Express, steak & white bean mash. Only takes about 5 mins, from start to finish.
