We 'the 72 unite', made up of fans from the Football League are angered by, and at a loss to explain, the news today that the proposed legislative changes to the existing academy systems have been voted in favour of.

In the current financial climate with the divide between rich and poor widening on a daily basis, Modern Football continues to be an exaggerated version of the overall global picture. THE RICH CONTINUE TO GET RICHER, WHILE THE POOR SUFFER.

Lower league football is dying, starved by Premier League greed and excess. Attendances are down, and clubs will soon cease to exist, unable to balance the books to survive let-alone compete with the elite.

The lifeblood of Football League clubs are their successful academy systems, some of which have supported and sustained clubs for many years, producing local, homegrown talent representative of the area and fanbase. Today’s ruling cuts this essential lifeblood at the arteries and will signal the death knoll, the final nail in the coffin for the survival of Professional Football outside the Premier League.

In response we are calling for action from EVERY FAN at EVERY MATCH on Saturday 29th October 2011 to UNITE, rise-up and fight for the very existence of their clubs. It’s NOW OR NEVER we must met the Premier League and FA know we will not be trampled on.

EVERY FAN, EVERY GAME – BOYCOTT FIRST FIVE MINUTES TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THIS INJUSTICE AND SHOW THE STRENGTH OF OPPOSITION TO PROPOSALS

Won't make a difference when everyone says it won't.

It's that kind off attitude which means things like this don't work and allows the football powers that be to take this p*ss out of us and our game.

I'm all for it, and shall be participating knowing that i've done my part. If no one else bothers so what, at least I did what I could.

I agree.

A petition would probably help more, but when someone's got off their arse and started an organised campaign, why the hell would you not take part?

When was the last time fans of the FL actually did something to show they're unhappy?

Has it ever happened? This is one area, more than any other, where we should take a leaf out of the European fans books. Any time there's something the fans don't like, they protest, there'll be a banner, there'll be a march before the game, they'll boycott the match etc. How many times do our fans boycott the game? I can think of Huddersfield at Sheff Utd this season over ticket prices (2,000 still went mind) and Chelsea v Genk which was still pretty much full anyway. Why? Because it's seen as "unloyal" and anything out of the norm is marginalised or shouted down so much that anyone who was considering participating doesn't because they don't want to be part of a minority, and I for one am fed up of it. Fans in this country seriously need to wake up and realise that they do have a voice and without us, the sport would die - infact the FA, the FL and EPL should probably realise this too!

lets say we all did this, how would it annoy the owners? we come back in after 5 minutes, buy tickets and it affects nothing. people power matters for very little anymore unfortunately, unless an entire boycott is held and it affects clubs nothing will make a difference.

It would get us together, which would be a start.

With that attitude, we'll continue to be a doormatt.

I don't think anyone is claiming that this boycott with single-handedly revolutionise football, but it's infinitely better than doing nothing.

I am not saying doing nothing will be better but in my opinion we need a full scale boycott to even have a hope of any changes to the system.

Of which there's no chance of happening if fans don't want to miss even 5 minutes (which they probably miss when leaving early/going for a p*ss/getting a pint anyway). Got to start somewhere and this is as good a start as any.

All Derby fans should do this if they don't want to see us lose Mason Bennett for £2.50. If they still don't want to do something about it, then they have no right to moan when that happens whatsoever.

I am not objecting to the 5 minutes on that ground, just on the fact to have any impact you need to hit them where it hurts and this won't do that.

Doing what you can isnt turning up late for 1 game- demand a refund on your season ticket, cancel your sky subscription, stand on st peters street giving lectures, start a face book group, boycott the games by starting a picket line and shouting "scab" at any fans going to the game. Throw eggs at the FA head quarters, send threatening letters, chain yourself to railings, steal the EPL trophy and melt it down, abduct gary lineker. Then realise that it still didn't make a difference to your cause (just got you put in prison).
