given that the current main car park is going to be the location of the new velodrome/arena and these plans seem to be taking over most of the car park next to the ground, I wonder where the club/council expect people to park on match days?

Isn't there just a wide stretch of nothing in particular where the velodrome would be? It's near the park n ride bus stop isn't it? I've stood there a few times, there's quite a bit of grassland down the slope on which the most I've seen are rabbit carcasses. It needs something doing with it, as it is it's just a lot of wasted space.

What about the load of rabbit warrens down there though - are PP going to ferret them all out or let diggers destroy it all? It would be a shame if that happened. Have to think of the wildlife too.

The good thing is, jobs will become available for a few folk, that can only be a good thing. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Who's paying for it all though, the club?

Tom Glick says that 1m people visit pride park every year. Now with this there will be more people visiting. So, lets say the average spend of each person is £20, thats easily £20m a year. I don't see how people can argue that this is a bad thing for the club.

Just watched Mr Glick's interview and noticed what looked like a Mini Market near the main entrance. Not sure if that's a great place to put that 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah I though that as well, would bit a little cramped.

£5m on this shopping plaza thingy and £2m on a goalscoring striker like.......erm......Billy Sharp for example. Extend the Plaza when it has generated enough money. Job done.

Oh and change the name, Plaza sounds gay.

I am on the fence with this, while it will bring in extra revenue will it ruin the football vibe of pride park? ( I know there isn't much as it is) Also they are investing 7 million into this, shame they couldn't do that with the squad.

I hate the fact that it's money that should be spent on the team - but if brings in revenue then long term gain.

A £7m investment in the squad isn't guaranteed to return money within a year, Fester have spent double that and probably won't reach the automatic spots this season.

Pride Park is a lucrative business area for retail. 12,000 people are in and around the area on a daily basis, people with jobs and cash who have money to spend. So cafes and shops will make money.

But, as YR said, I'm concerned turning the stadium into a retail park could be selling the stadium's soul. There is already a Starbucks and a Greggs for goodness sake.

Looks like a spaceport.

Can't beat walking through streets lined with terrace houses and a ground plonked right in the middle. Always liked that.

Suppose it could be worse. Like the Ricoh. So here's the conference centre, here's a flash gym and fancy shop...... oh, and there's a football ground stuck on the end of it too. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
