Yeah I think the club will take the money, what other reason is there for extending a contract other than boost re-sale value.

Think there may have been interest in OB during the summer too, a 4 year contract must have boosted his re-sale value too.

Or maybe we have a group of defenders that can have a few years together for Derby County, young and talented and the club actually want to keep them. A RB and 3CH's all contracted to at least 2014. We have had a young LB on trial during pre-season too. Maybe they actually are looking for players that can play for us for a few seasons.

Out of the players the club has sold, how many wanted to stay, or were actually wanted by Clough?

I doubt that any clubs are actively preparing bids for January. They may well be having a good scout around and watching a few players, but I doubt clubs will start lining up bids until mid December.

It seems like lazy journalism to me.

Does anyone know if West Brom could take Brayford on emergency loan now and buy him permanently in January? That would make sense if it was possible. My understanding is that they can add to their squads until they hit 25 players over the age of 22, so by that they can if they have not used up their squad places. That said, I'm not totally confident that I have got it right.

I am pretty sure that a bid of £3m would, and should, be accepted. That is a fair price and it would be unfair to Brayford to block his progress. The lad took the move from the Conference to League 2 in his stride. He has showed he is good enough for the Championship. Is he good enough for the Premier League? Will he be good enough for England? None of us know, but it would be cruel to stop him from finding out.

That would be more the club letting the player decide than accepting the first bid for accepting it's sake.

I thought that the 25 man squads couldn't be changed until January, but they can use as many under 23's as they like because they are not effected by the 25 man ruling.

Far too sensible, let's do it the Derby way - say there's no way we can sell him for that, hold out for £6 million, then half an hour before the transfer window shuts panic and realise no-one will pay that, so sell him for £1.5 and leave it too late to buy a replacement.

Clubs may be scouting but nothing will be decided, 3 million seems like a good price but that would depend on the right back we could find and if the club were willing to heighten the wage bill for 2 players to come in for a combined 3 million and not just one player. I would be dissapointed if we sold however, i don't think brayford will play for england, smalling is good and can play right back and if phil jones is eligible for england, not sure if he is then he will have that slot for a good while.

very true, he is good but his transfer fee was insane, liverpool for all the money they have spent are not top 4 quality.

They aren't relegation contenders like someone said last season though.
