Seriously?

yup

Nottingham Forest have today announced that John Pye & Sons Auctioneers will be their new main sponsor for the 2012-13 Championship season.

The Nottingham-based company, which is the UK's fastest growing independent commercial auction house, have signed an initial one-year contract with the club.

John Pye & Sons were formed in Nottingham by a local family in 1968 and Forest Chief Executive Mark Arthur has welcomed the link-up.

He said: "Like us, they are a Nottingham company with a great history but have also forged an excellent reputation both regionally and nationally.

"We believe this sponsorship agreement is an ideal vehicle for both parties and we are looking forward to working with John Pye & Sons over the next 12 months."

Adam Pye, MD and Principal Auctioneer of John Pye & Sons, said: "We are delighted to be the new main sponsors of Nottingham Forest.

"We are a Nottingham born and bred family business and share many of the same core values and traits within our respective fields; a rich history and heritage, pioneers of new developments, all fuelled by creative and burning ambition. We even share the same colours.

"We are pleased to be able to help support the club in this way during a sensitive period of transition at The City Ground.

"These are exciting times for both Nottingham Forest and John Pye & Sons - we are both about to embark on new ventures which will no doubt see us grow in stature within our competitive fields. We very much look forward to playing a part to help support a season of smiles and good cheer at The City Ground."

John Pye & Sons trades from eight auction sites across the UK, all of which are managed from their Nottingham headquarters - the old 'Star' Brewery in New Basford. The company holds more than 400 auctions a year acting on behalf of some of the UK's biggest Banks, Finance Houses, Retail PLCs, Recovery Practitioners and Government Authorities selling millions of items every year, ranging from laptops and TVs through to vehicles and construction plant and machinery.

Ironically, the Brewery was 'home' for more than a century to Shipstone's, who were Forest's main sponsor from 1987 to 1994.

Nottingham Forest's new club sponsor says a takeover of the club is imminent while the Reds chief executive Mark Arthur has admitted there is interest from more than one party.

Adam Pye, who is the managing director of new sponsor John Pye & Sons, told BBC East Midlands Today: "It is imminent we are told and so exciting.

"Hopefully we will be talking to you in 10 days time with more exciting news."

Arthur added: "There is good interest in the club, not from just one party."

Takeover 'exciting', says Reds sponsor

The Reds chief executive continued: "We do not know who they are and where they come from.

"We are hopeful the new owners will be in for the start the season, but we can't say that for certain.

"The process is not being handled by anyone at Nottingham Forest and all that John Pelling [finance director], Frank Clark [chairman] and myself do is answer questions that are put to us.

"It is a very difficult situation for everyone working at Nottingham Forest, it is a very difficult situation for all the fans. We are in it together.

"There is no timescale at the moment. We have told them the dates of when players report back and when they season starts.

"If the owners are to have an impact on next season they need to be in Nottingham the sooner the better."

Forest have been for sale since October 2011 when Nigel Doughty resigned as chairman but [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16890236]his death in February has made the sale more complicated.

The club's sale is being handled by merchant bank Seymour Pierce
