TigerTedd
Do I have to start listing like for like players? It's fair to say, on paper, the Forest squad should be better than ours. The fact of the matter is though, our squad is performing better, and is sitting pretty comfortably in the top half of the table. I'd be happy to concede a draw on that one, just because in any other category you can name I think we're hands down winners, if we're talking about here and now, so it's only sporting to give you a chance. I'd take some of your players, but I'm sure you'd take some of our players' performances. How about Potential? My snooping through the thread tells me your a big fan of what might be. TigerTedd
Although, speaking of history, I was tempted to spend a few minutes on Wikipedia and try and find out, based on a mixture of general success in terms of league positions and trophy wins, and based on head to head results, who has been the better team over history, decade by decade, since the foundation of the two clubs. I haven't got the time right now, but I'm sure it would be an interesting one to look into if anyone has. Off the top of my head, I guess the 70s probably go to us, and the 80s probably go to you, maybe the 40s are ours, but the 50s are yours. But seeing as I was only born in the 80s, and have never really had an avid fascination of Forest history, that could all be wrong, so it would need some proper research. ladyram
If you're better than us (and it's all in your head 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> ) how come you're in no mans land somewhere near the bottom? It doesn't matter if you're squad are better (in your opinion) than ours - but the bottom line is, we're 9th and you are - well, not. Red Elvis
Blimey lads and lasses where do I start! League Position, Derby achieveing?, Forest Under Achieving. Squad wise, I think we're underperforming? only results wise that is, and you are over performing? History, you don't get nowt for winning a League Match, its the Trophy cabinet that counts, so we'll leave the History as I said above. Forest on paper are far better than Derby, FACT, I love potentials, cannot possibility say that Tyson will not be better than ? or Robinson has more skill than ? The Young Boys done good, and I love it that Derby have shown how easy this League is. Man City beat Man Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford, are they better? ought to be? will they win 19 Titles? should do? This season Mid Table for both clubs will leave Derby happy, and Forest unhappy, however we'll be ecstatic if we do. Next season once the Stellaitus has ended, and FFP on the horizon, Nigel can contionue his wonderful job, and Forest can get back to basics and I firmly believe that once we are cured on this Stellaitus nollox, we have a strong base of players. LeedsCityRam
Why do the 70's belong to Derby? League titles 1971-72 & 1974-75. Three other top 4 finishes in the 70's & generally acknowledged by fans outside of the East Midlands as one of the leading teams of that era Granted, our European record doesn't compare to yours but we still hammered Benfica in the European Cup of '73 (they had Eusebio playing for them & were in the middle of a European wide domestic record for consecutive wins that I think stands today), knocked Athletico Madrid out of UEFA Cup in 74 (year before they reached European Cup Final) & gave Real Madrid a sound 4-1 thrashing at the Baseball Ground in 76. (Lets not talk about the second leg though haha) Forest only emerged in 1977/8 - before which, the majority of the decade you were a middling second division club. Red Elvis
Of course you cannot take me seriously, I'm stating what you refuse to believe. Forest squad on paper, is better. Forest underachieving and Derby over achieving, I think that is fair. I keep trying to leave the History lessons, but unfortunately League positions throughout seasons mean zip, apart from personal satisfaction of winning a local Derby, it really counts for zip. Trophies Historically belong to Forest, I understand your denial, and we have been here before: Example if Forest beat Derby 5th February and finish above Derby will mean Forest are better, will you consede that? It will probably mean, Derby achieved target and Forest failed target, As for next season staying up, and dependant which boys leave and who comes in, the Forest squad have had 3? 4 years experience of high pressure situation, League One surge, Relegation Battle, two Play Offs and now a totally amazing Relegation battle. THIS WILL BODE WELL, as for Derby I really don't know, can they kick on, will they sign quality to add to this base, can the kids do well without the surprise factor? Will running, youthful exuberance be enough for next season? I don't know. As for Forest, time will tell, Survival will do after catastrophic events, but we have good young boys too! Ambitious
How can Forest fans say their squad is better? that is delusional in the extreme, surely if your squad was better then you'd be the team that was the team 13 points ahead, would be like us saying we have a better squad than West Ham and Southampton.. You've got a more expensive yet worse side, no hiding away from that fact.
LeedsCityRam
Red Elvis - in your haste to boast about winning the "Trofeo Colombino Cup" & "Dallas Cup", you've missed the premise of your own question - why did the 1970's belong to Derby? Re-read my post again & see if you can argue against it (clue: you can't) Dave - it matters not the size of the city. Do you have more respect for Leyton Orient rather than Newcastle cos they play in London?!! And personally, I like having the city to ourselves - one club cities like ourselves, Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland etc tend to have more passionate support - not 2 words I generally associate with your lot

uttoxram75
If you lot are so superior to poor ickle Derby why do you bother to come on our ickle forum? I've always known it, and one or two reddogs, in moments of weakness, have admitted it.....you are forever bitter and jealous that, on average, the people of Derby love their team more than the people of Notts love theirs. Perhaps because we are so smaller than the huge metropolis of Notts yet we consistently punch above our weight and stay loyal to our club (maybe too loyal at times but thats an internal debate). Carry on trolling and wumming chaps, its all good fun and jolly japes. Just bear in mind though that you are on a Derby forum desperately trying to big your club up. We don't have to do that.........
