MuespachRam
I'm not even looking at it like that, I don't care about how good the football is, all I care about is results. But all I'm saying is that simply because you finished above a team does not mean your a better team than them. Anyway this argument has already happened, and everything has been said so I'm just going to leave it
MuespachRam
The results stated that we were the 3rd best team in that division in that season. Obviously, best team = most points gained.
Kris Marina
I had a "discussion" with a mardy Baggies fan outside the ground about this very point too....and to add to the already comical scene, I could hardly speak through excitement(and beer) and was dressed as Spiderman Of course we deserved to beat them, they never looked like scoring, and we did..! ha ha..and it was GREAT..absolutely great. EdinburghRam
anyway, if you take away the style of football, and just look at numbers, then the team who has the highest number of points has got to be better than anyone else, it's just maths. MuespachRam
If your looking at it in a mathematical sense then what about other factors such as injuries or referring mistakes?
EdinburghRam
The only calculation that is required is the games won, drew and lost. a team that gets 90 points over a season is better than a team that get 82 points. They are 8 points better..
MuespachRam
say Manchester United lose Rooney,Nani,Valencia,Ferdinand and Vidic to season long injuries next season and they finish below Everton for example, Manchester United are still a better team than Everton. You simply just can't ignore these factors that can effect the outcome of the season
EdinburghRam
If United lose all those players....then they wouldnt be as good as Everton...so..nope...they wouldn't be better...
MuespachRam
the team they would be able to field probably wouldn't be as good, but they would still have a better squad
EastKentRam
I think if it's a point or 2 then 'luck' can come into play and the best team might not always be where they deserve. 8 points though is a big enough gap, that unless in exceptional circumstances, to show that the better team were in third place. EdinburghRam
So..? If your theory is true.....If Bolton signed Pele, Maradona, Rossi, DiCanio, Shilton, and Gazza....they would have a better "squad" none of them would be able to play, but they would have a better squad.....so they are the best team..? MuespachRam
yes ok fair enough I can kind of agree with that, my initial point was that not always the best team wins the league. Agree?

dcfcdavecov
Surely that means the team of 06/07 that equalled the record werethe best team we have ever had away from home. Fact, wins/points say so. Now i went to every game away from home that season bar 3. I thought we were lucky in the majority of them. Just my opinion. Best away team we've ever had, ya havin a laugh. But facts say otherwise.
