Just reading "Gone" by Mo Hayder. Pretty good so far.

I've nearly finished this one Bristol. Sister gave it me the other day and I need to finish it because kids are involved and I get all worried about them.

Alan Carr next - talk about one extreme to the other.

my recommendations are....

best fiction :

erich maria remarck - all quiet on the western front

very powerful and simply written. don't generally do fiction.

i've tried it but it doesnt do it for me - except for this.

best autobiography :

arthur harris - bomber offensive

i 've read alot of biographies , sports people, racing drivers, footballers, artists, architects, fighter pilots, mountaineers, pop singers,....this is easily the best. It gave me tremendous respect for someone who has been very harshly treated by history. Great man.

best science books :

john gribben - stardust

nick lane - power, sex, suicide

andrew knoll - life on a young planet

fascinating stuff if your into that

best books on sport :

harry harris - pele : his life and times

duncan edwards - tackle soccer this way

juan fangio - my 20 years of racing

francis chichester - gypsy moth circles the world

"The Enemy" by Charlie Higson. A different take on the "zombie" genre.

Also recommend the Roy Grace crime series by Peter James. All have "Dead" in the title and each one is great. Name checks a lot of my local towns, road names and places which makes it all the better.

I've just finished "An Idiot Abroad - The Travel Diaries", if you watched the series and liked it you will love this book, a hell of alot more happened what you didn't see on TV.

Is that a book book or a diary book or even a bit 'o' this bit 'o' that book.

loved the show,so might get the book.
