WorksopRam
Is he more of a CF or one of the three attacking players? Can someone answer me please? I assume from some of the comments that he's an out-and-out striker..
Alex W
Can someone answer me please? I assume from some of the comments that he's an out-and-out striker.. He is a striker yes, but he can also be played wide right. A better version of Varney, for me. Paterson shouldn't be in this league. Had he not been injured at the start of last season then he'd still be in the PL with a Wolves or Birmingham.

His stats seem impressive, if that's anything to go by. Now to YouTube the chap!

He was the driving force behind Burnley getting promoted. He's an excellent player, would absoloutely love him here.
Stimacked
Clough did mention after the Brizzle match that he would be looking to have a few new incoming in the January window. He mentioned a couple of loans and a possible permanent. Hmmm. He also mentioned there would probably be some players leaving as well. He again talked of the need for a player who can consistently put the ball in the box. On the other hand ......A few weeks previously he said there was unlikely to be much money for transfers and he doubted there would be any major incomings and the priority was to get the likes of Davies, Porter and Addison back fit and playing again. If there is any truth in this story, could this mean one of these things??? 1 the owners are finally showing some ambition and have provided some cash for Clough to burn:) (hmmm, doubt it:mad:) 2 the money incoming from Varney's move to Blackpool/ West Brom/ West Ham is more than Holloway's stated 250k and with the wages saved from his possible departure added, is enough to allow a permanent Clough bid for an established player of pedigree (maybe possible) 3 Could it be another sign that Clough will be forced to cash in on Commons, as he and his agent are refusing to budge on their wage demands, and that the cash from his firesale would go in the pot for reshaping the squad. (not mentioned on this thread, but possible!!!)
Leeds Ram
probably the last one stimacked, hope it is the 1st option but I doubt it, commons reaction to his team at bristol city to me indicates there is one way he is going. I hope we sign austin as he is just what we need

Paterson would be a massive signing if we got him, i think he's a great player with massive passion for the game. I don't know if he's a Burnley fan, but when playing for Coyle he looked as determined as any player i've seen. Massive work rate, very fast, scores goals and gets involved in everything. This could be huge, i just hope that they actually go for it for once. This could be more inspired than the Hooper and Sharpe bids.
Neo
Would love us to sign him ,have we found some money then?
Stimacked
Expect a Clough statement brushing the link aside as nonsense some time this afternoon in the DET! If the club makes no comment at all, there could be something in it!
Day
Bloomers said on Twitter that Clough has rubbished this little rumour, also Commons contract talks could go on till the summer.
NothernRam
Typical. We will be without decent striker untill the end of the season... ... and goodbye Commo.
Boycie
Big signings in the summer though, so all season ticket sales wil go to that again.
NothernRam
Bloomers said on Twitter that Clough has rubbished this little rumour Clough said: "That's the first I have heard about it. "We haven't got too many strikers around – and he is a good player – but that is the first time we have been linked with him as far as I'm aware." Day
I was on me phone earlier, but here's the Tweets: In answer to a few questions...Clough said on Commons: "We're still talking, had a conversation this morning. It might go to the summer... NC: "It's a crucial contract for Kris. We might have to pay extra to keep him because even if we had 3-4 million, how'd you replace him?" Clough also said the specialist has said Steven Davies could be involved on the 1st Jan - but it's still wait and see. More from Barker now! Oh, and Clough says the Martin Paterson Burnley link is nonsense too

Day
he got very frustrated on saturday and he got on at his teamates a lot more than usual I'd prefer he did that rather than look not interested at all, shows the lad wants to win.
Leeds Ram
well yes but I can't see how we are going to hold onto him, the club obviously don't want to pay the kind of wages he wants otherwise it would be sorted by now wouldn't it?
Ambitious
'Wait and see in the summer' on the commons contract? ultimately means, he'll be gone in the summer for nothing. I wonder what there excuse will be this time?
Ambitious
can't edit the above post, was just going to say how long are we going to accept this from our board. I did say that if we let commons go for free at the end of the season, I would cut all ties with Derby County FC until the board was removed! every summer we've been told we're going to bring in some big faces and we're going to improve, ultimately means we end up selling and gambling with the loan market! Last season when they said 'we'll bring in some big signings' at the end of the year which they mentioned along side with season ticket renewals, i said I am not going to jump on the bandwagon and was willing to wait on who we signed before I got my season ticket, as it was.. he sold Hulse and started the season with our only other out and out striker injured.. so much for Hooper/Sharp, this board is full of ********, I actually think they're dragging Glick along with him and using him as a scape goat.. as everyone knows it is NOT his job to invest in the team, he is the PR figure head for the board.. and he seems to take most of the flack, not the 5-6 billionnaires that are doing very little for this club! Hucknall Ram
he got very frustrated on saturday and he got on at his teamates a lot more than usual Maybe he was frustrated because he was fouled by a OAP goalkeeper while though on goal, and said goalkeeper only got a yellow card.
