Ghost of Clough Posted Tuesday at 18:15 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:15 It's a big boost to have Rooney back. Woth the depth in the first team, we may see him on a semi regular basis for the U21s if he stays free from injury. Bardell also returns to the starting lineup and JThompson is back in the squad. Overall, I don't think we'll have a stronger U21 matchday squad than this all season. Jubbs Posted Tuesday at 18:19 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:19 0-1 down. Tried 2 long balls and passed straight to their players twice, some poor passing.
Comrade 86 Posted Tuesday at 18:19 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:19 A seriously half-arsed start from our lads who don't look at it at all. Need to improve and swiftly as we're not in this game at all right now. Elwood P Dowd

Ghost of Clough Posted Tuesday at 18:36 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:36 2-0. I think we've had more of the ball so far but I don't think we've had a touch in their box yet. We seemingly want to mix it up, by going long now and then, but nothing is sticking to DBrown. I think we'd do better with Allen in the middle, and put any of Moloney, Perry or Spencer on to help stretch play a bit. Comrade 86

Looked like a shove in the back, but my attention has started to wonder a tad and we didn't get a replay. The ref is apparently a bit of a rising star. Struggling to see it myself. Ghost of Clough Posted Tuesday at 19:15 Share Posted Tuesday at 19:15 I think Hawkins has been the first player to attempt a through ball to DBrown on the ball. We need more of those if we're to get the most out of Brown, rather than the pointless long balls into him Comrade 86 and RoyMac5 1

As a result, we either use wing backs there (Moloney/Perry), or stick a CM out there (Allen, McAndrew, Spencer). I think we looked better once we had Hawkins and Allen in central areas, as they both look for that forward pass into our strikers as every opportunity. Tbh, we'd probably be better off switching to a 352/3412 since we don't have any wingers, and have plenty of CMs and CBs. It would give us a more solid defence to build off too. Crewton Posted Tuesday at 22:06 Share Posted Tuesday at 22:06 The ref sounds like the one we had against Chorley in the FA Cup a few years ago : thought that youngsters should be able to match a men's team for physicality. Comrade 86
