I am confused

At yesterday's match the Huddersfield players came onto the pitch from the South West corner of the pitch, obviously from different changing rooms. This is obviously something to do with Covid, but is somewhat puzzling, because we the two sets of players in close company, but more than that there were nearly 17000 fans breathing over eachother for over 90 minutes. 

Why are the Covid regulations such a joke?

They didn't seem to be doing this in other matches

They are outdoors on the pitch, instead of being in a narrow tunnel.

Club making more strange choices. The best bit was hearing on the radio that the players needed to go to the change by room for the shower after the game.
