Well done England. They attacked and got their reward. They didn't let Australia setting a modest total put them off, and Bell and Root have finished this as professionally as anyone could.

It will be very interesting to see what Australia do for Trent Bridge.

Hopefully Anderson is fit and ready to go.

If my memory serves me right, it's been the best part of a century since a team went on to win the Ashes having been 2-1 down in a 5 match series. England must go for the win against in the 4th Test though, if they even give the Australian's a sniff, they could well turn this.

Can someone explain why we have had 3 tests that have not even been remotely close?

I don't remember a series quite like it (at least not one where both sides have won a test).

The pitches might be made to order, and it completely backfired at Lords?

It's probably to do with two very shaky batting lineups (England's weakness being their top order, Australia's being their middle order) and class bowlers on both sides who can on their day turn a match.

What a first-class idiot Ashley Giles must be feeling. To say that Finn was unselectable a couple of years ago was crass, uncaring and disrespectful - no problem in not picking him at the time if he was in poor form but absolutely no need for those tactless comments, probably used at the time to deflect from his own coaching inadequacies.

Problem was that Finn kept knocking down the stumps on his follow through and a big issue was made by the South African Captain Smith when he was caught behind but a no ball was called.

Smith complained that this was distracting plus Finn lost his confidence and his action.

Hes come back well but the loss of  Anderson at Trent Bridge means Finn will be under more pressure with Broad to be the main strike bowlers.

Interesting times ahead but well done to the England attack at Edgbaston.

At the time, he was.
