Guest
Biggest loss the second half of the season.... Knew where to stand, lead the midfield, organise... And above all else... Gave us a hard underbelly... We dont win dirty or ugly.... Missed him the most. You can stick all your sausage stats about Mascarell. You can stick the Thorne cheerleading...Defensive Midfield is where we have lost it this season. For all the mocking Eustace got.... Mascarell et al were not a patch on him. VIVA LA EUSATCE
needles
Spine of the team, the leaders; Bucko, Thorne/Eustace, and Martin. Been ***** without them. Should have replaced them with like for like loans even if they weren't as good and left Lingard, Albentosa, Ince etc where they were.

Ilsonram12
35 games he played in the playoff final season, that tells you how much we missed him this season

Him and Martin probably the best leaders that we have in our squad. Both have been sorely missed.
CumbrianRam
Thorne was a bigger miss to be honest, the whole season bar about 4 games.
Uptherams
Thorne was a bigger miss to be honest, the whole season bar about 4 games.Does anyone else think that If Thorne got a whole season he could get 8 goals and 8 assists even playing as a DM? Alph
We've been playing defensive midfield without a defensive midfielder. imo two midfielders there may have covered better than any one of the pretenders we've had. Definitely missed Eustace and Thorne. Mascarell did a better job than some of the latest efforts.

uttoxram75
Its a team game. its such a simple statement but anyone who's ever played football knows that the most important player in the side is the Eustace/Bucko type of guy.To lose both of them was the killer. Ovis aries
All perfectly true , and I have been saying so for weeks , but what is also true is five silly minutes overtime against Brum has cost us just as much .

ariotofmyown
All perfectly true , and I have been saying so for weeks , but what is also true is five silly minutes overtime against Brum has cost us just as much .That is so not true. That silly overtime vs brum has cost us 2 points. If you can assume all other results would have remained the same, we would have still been heading into the playoffs a mess and with little or no chance of winning them. What is much more true is that with Eustace (or Thorne or probably Omar too) we would have picked up many more points and probably got automatic. MrsRam
That team today - wouldn't have got through the semi's - glad I've got no more games to worry about.

Alph
Omar was a miss too, yes bit suspect defensivly but added alot to our attacking playYeah, he moves the ball nice and quickly. It's not just today but today was a perfect example.Reading forwards on the half way line. Reading midfield midway in their own half. Reading defence 10 yards outside their box. All watching us play harmlessly from one side of the pitch to the other. Raul needing 3 and 4 touches, Forsyth coming back inside, Keogh and Shotton basically being responsible for starting attacks. Hughes and Hendrick then drop deeper and now we've got 4 forwards where they have 10 players. It's got to be faster. You can't be asking Keogh and Shotton to do it all.Was probably partly down to Mac today though. He chucked on forwards alright. He was brave. But the problem wasnt lack of forwards. It was getting the ball in their 3rd. With over 60% of the ball we managed 93 passes in their 3rd. Bournemouth playing at Charlton with similar possession managed 148 in the final 3rdToo slow. Ovis aries
We where overrun in midfield , especially after Warnock was subbed , the back four had no outlet , and just kept lumping it.
kingsy1884
Eustace has been a massive miss for us in the back end of the season. Its such an important position for us but to have all the orthodox DMs injured 4/4 is so massively unlucky, its obvious the season went rotten after the Ipswich away game though when we lost the Eust. At 35 though does Eustace have it in him for another season? he has struggled with injuries for years I think his time is nearly up. Out of contract in the summer too .
