AmericanRam
Victoria wants to go with me to check out Derby as well as perhaps go to some zoo's in the area(She is currently getting her Master's degree in Zoology) just to get some ideas for her own projects and to see how those in the UK are different from those in the States as she has visited several over here. Right now, she currently works as a part-time caretaker at a big cat farm while she finishes up her degree. What are the closest zoo's to Derby? And which one or two even, would be the best to take her to if she does decide to fly over with me? I should have my niece with me also. Thanks mates. I know London has one of course, but are their any closer ones than that?
RLACML
Head up to Edinburgh zoo. As well as being situated in the prettiest city in the UK, it also has two pandas.

RLACML
I think they're in Edinburgh now Not that I know of, but Edinburgh does have the UK's only Koalas as well. The choice is clear. Straight train from Derby as well.

This is the largest and probably most important in the country and is part of London Zoo (ZSL). Take a look at the website http://www.zsl.org/zsl-whipsnade-zoo If you are OK renting a car it is an easy drive and just off the M1. If you are relying on the trains it is more fiddly but easily doable from Derby. If you go you should get in touch in advance, you might find that they are really helpful while you are there. TigerTedd
Me and the family recently went to London Zoo. It was alright, but we all agreed that the beat zoo we've aver been to in the UK is Paignton Zoo in Torquay. That was really good. That's obviously about as inaccessible as you can get from Derby though. Twycross is the closest. It's not the best general purpose zoo in the world by a long way, but it specialises in primates, so if Victoria is into monkeys then it's a good place to go. What about safari parks, do they count? TigerTedd
Then West Midlands safari park is not a million miles away. But Longleat is better. Best zoo ever? Singapore. Only one I've been to that opens at night so you can see all the nocturnal animals.
