He's got a huge throw too... would be nice to see us mix things up with it every now and again

It's a hugely powerful weapon, a long throw, at any level. They had a bloke at Buxton a couple of seasons ago called Mark Roberts. Obviously different level and probably smaller pitches, but his throws from anywhere from the line of the penalty area onwards were like corner kicks to the far post.

As you say, you have to mix it up or it becomes predictable, but it's mighty effective.

Marc Roberts now plays for Halifax, and I have seen him many times over the past season and a bit. He has come on a treat, and will undoubtably make a league player. He can throw the ball beyond the far post and he causes mayhem with it. Superb header of the ball and would make a good addition to the development squad, although I would be sorry to see him leave Halifax.

That'll be interpreted by some (Florists) as a regression to hoofball.

One of the few times that Jewell ever pulled a managerial cat out of the bag was in the league cup win at Stoke. Whenever Stoke had a long throw, Derby didn't pack the area - quite the opposite in fact, as we kept 2 or 3 players on the half way line, thus allowing the keeper easier access to the ball.
