randombc
The object of this thread is to create a starting 11 and a subs bench that would be strong enough for the championship and then another starting 11 and subs bench that would be strong enough for the premiership. If we need new players, insert the word 'New' in the team, and you cannot use loans that we have had this season, as we are not guaranteed them for next season. Championship --------------------------------Grant---------------------- New-------------Keogh-----------Buxton-------Forsyth --------------------------------New-------------------------- ------------------Hendrick------------Bryson------------- ----Russell-----------------------------------------Dawkins--- ------------------------------Martin-------------------------------- Bench Legzdins/Roos Eustace Hughes Bennett Coutts Ward New - Centre back I don't think we need to change much to the current team, obviously we'll need a new right back if we don't manage to secure Wisdom on a permanent, and I feel Eustace will be another year older and won't be able to hack 90 minutes week in week out, he couldn't do it this season, so would probably only be suitable for a place on the bench for the last 30 minutes or so if the game needs seeing out. I'd expect to see the following players leave: Naylor x 2, Freeman, Sammon, Ball, Bailey, O'Connor, Legzdins, Hoganson. Premiership ----------------------------------Grant--------------------------- New---------------New---------------Keogh--------Forsyth -------------------------------New-------------------------------- --------------------Hendrick-------------Bryson-------------- ----Russell-----------------------------------------------New---- ------------------------------Martin--------------------------------- Bench Legzdins/Roos Hughes Coutts Ward/Dawkins Buxton New - Defensive Midfielder New - Striker Obviously the step up between the championship and the premiership is a big one and I think we'd need a few established players who have been there before. A new centre back I feel would be important, someone who could handle the pace of the premiership and hold the defence well. I think Buxton and Keogh would be turned inside out in the premiership with no experience between them. A new defensive midfielder and right back again of a proven quality. I've also gone with a new winger, although Ward can be excellent on his day, he seems a bit inconsistent and sometimes struggles in the championship, nevermind the premiership. I left Martin in there, but I feel you need someone who can score goals to stay in the premiership. Some players can handle the step up, i.e. Lambert and some don't i.e. Steve Howard, so we may have to wait and see if he can.

Cam the Ram
Champ Grant Brayford Keogh Buxton Forsyth Thorne Hendrick Bryson Ward Martin Russell Prem Grant New Keogh New Forsyth Hughes New Bryson Russell Martin New Would need some new signings for the bench as well RB = Brayford/Wisdom CB = Wisdom/Onuoha LB = Forsyth/Cresswell CDM = Thorne/Sidwell LW = Adomah/Snodgrass ST = Ulloa/Hooper/Campbell Team is obviously good enough for the Champ so we wouldn't need to change much if we stayed down, just replace the loans and possibly sell Hughes if we are forced to If we went up we would need to sign a mix of players with Prem experience and players who are possibly ready to make the step up from the Champ but aren't going to do it with their current club

inter politics
If and it's still a big if at the moment, we are promoted, would you stick with Grant in goals in the Prem or get an upgrade? For the Prem, I would probably sign: a right back an experienced centre half a young centre half to battle Keogh and Buxton for the other spot some full back cover a defensive midfielder (maybe two if Eustace is a goner and if we get promoted, he probably would be) a playmaker/tricky forward/winger another striker Possibly another keeper If we are not promoted: a right back another centre half some full back cover a defensive midfielder a playmaker/tricky forward/winger Obviously some of these would be McClaren magic loans

sage
I think our current first choice eleven would effectively become our second string next season if we go up. I can see 8 players being brought in. CM, Winger and Gk are could have current contracted players at first choice but nowhere else.
