Might not have been any leak...

Could have just been that one of the players didn't understand the joke and asked about it after to someone who then spread the word..

Whatever the scenario, it's simply PC gone mad.

The fact it's gotten to the stage where Kick It Out wanted a full investigation on it is alarming. What is happening to the world today? So many hatred people out there looking for ways to bring other people down.. People even thought RH should have used a dog or a cat instead because the word 'monkey' might offend someone. Who are these people?

The only thing I can think of is to re-write history and say NASA sent a polar bear to space. I just hope white people don't take offence.

Has anyone ever seen that interview with Morgan Freeman? Think it's called black history month it's brilliant!

Is it something I want to see?

Not sitting through a program telling me how far black people have come.

People are people to me. I don't feel any closer to a white person than a black person. Black and white aren't nations or tribes. They're skin colour. They don't define a person and I hate it when somebody talks about 'the black man' like they're battling movement.

The divide is usually rich v poor. Not that Kanye would have the brains to figure that out.

Ah, so he's in league with Portuguese people in being racist against Africans in general, because the Piri-Piri chilli is actually called 'African Bird's Eye'. Why can't they call it by its proper name and give credit to the millions of Africans who lend their name to a wonderful plant, only to have their 'ownership' of this small piece of biology torn from their grasp and thrust back down their throats?

Poor show. I bet he got that from his grandad.

Dear Kick it Out...

My grandson Oliver has a book with pictures of various animals on it, and each will make a sound associated with that animal when you press a button on the page.

He's not two yet, but he loves this book - it's his favourite, and indeed when he presses the button on page containing the picture of  a monkey, he says "Ee ee ee". I should like to take Oliver to the zoo in a few weeks time, but in light of the outrageous remarks made by Roy Hodgson in his so-called 'joke', I am not sure whether I ought to.

What do you think? Should I take him but avoid the monkey enclosure in case he thinks that they are representative of black people being oppressed? I'm really worried about the impression he gets. After all, should I avoid letting him see any of the keepers if they are black AND WORKING INSIDE A CAGE, just in case he makes the connection that you yourselves seem to be implying? On the other hand, should I positively encourage him in looking at black people who are outside cages and white keepers who are inside cages in order to redress the balance and in part undo some of the damage that the honky Hodgson has done to your noble cause?

Could you also please let me know whether you think it is wise to let him see elephants or hippos in case he gets the impression that large, some would say fat, creatures are themselves inferior, which might cause him to associate fat humans with inferiority?

I have, naturally, told Oliver's mum to stop giving him black pudding.

He also has a dangerous fixation with dinosaurs. Do you think this might make him look upon old people as second-class citizens? I am particularly concerned with WG Singh, the man who keeps our corner shop. He is old, fat and, of course as his name implies, Indian (a Sikh). I don't want Oliver to fly into a racist, fattist and ageist rage if he goes into his shop in years to come. There's no telling what he might do.

Surprise surprise, the Society of Black Lawyers have waded in:

A letter of complaint from a pressure group has been sent to the Football Association demanding that England boss Roy Hodgson attend a 'race appreciation' training course after details of a joke he told about a monkey in space were made public.

Peter Herbert, the head of the Society of Black Lawyers and who also runs the new Race For Sport organisation, has sent a four-page letter of complaint to the FA, saying it was wrong to declare the matter closed.

Hodgson, who apologised if any offence was caused, has expressed his frustration and anger that his side's achievement in reaching the World Cup earlier this week has been overshadowed by the details of the joke he told in the dressing room at half-time against Poland.

The FA was quick to give Hodgson its full backing over the joke about a monkey in space, which it is believed he used to illustrate why his players should give the ball to winger Andros Townsend.

The letter from Herbert to FA chairman Greg Dyke states: "To announce that the matter is 'closed' without any action being taken against the England manager is unacceptable and wholly inconsistent with your policies on equality and diversity.

"For Mr Hodgson or anyone else to make an apology if they fail to understand why the words used were offensive or potentially so is not the response of an institution with the resources and profile of the FA.

"The 'innocent remark' made out of ignorance is sadly a common feature of football. We are using the appropriate complaints procedure to urge the FA to provide mandatory 'race appreciation' training and 'cultural capital and cultural intelligence' training to Roy Hodgson and all football managers in the UK."

The FA is not commenting on the letter - but Hodgson believes the quip has put a spoiler on England's achievements in the past few days and he has received backing from Townsend and Wayne Rooney.

He told the Daily Mail: "Joy is short-lived in this job. The players are as angry about this as I am.

"We have just had a successful period and, although I wouldn't suggest we intend to rest on our laurels, I think we have earned the right to enjoy the fruits of our labours. Instead we get this."

Lord Ouseley, chairman of Kick It Out, had initially called for the FA to investigate but the anti-racism campaign group accepted the matter was now concluded following a statement from FA chairman Greg Dyke that confirmed no complaint had been made and none of the players was unhappy with Hodgson's words.

Rooney described the accusations of racism against Hodgson as "absolutely ridiculous".

Rooney was one of the first to offer his support, and speaking to his website, the striker said: "To be honest, it's really annoying that something such as this should see the light of day.

"All the lads know what type of guy Roy is, and to try and pin some form of label on him is absolutely ridiculous.

"Roy spoke to Andros straight away, who took no offence whatsoever. Hopefully that's now the end of the matter."

Hodgson apologised for any offence caused and confirmed he had spoken to Townsend at the time and on Wednesday, which implies he had been aware of the possible connotations.

Townsend said on Twitter: "I don't know what all this fuss is about. No offence was meant and none was taken! It's not even news worthy!"

Dyke's statement on the matter left no doubt over the strength of his support for the England manager.

"Roy Hodgson is a man of the highest integrity, an honourable man who is doing a great job with the England team. He has and deserves the full support of The Football Association," Dyke said.

Yes it is mate, it's exactly the opposite of the above, he basically says everyone should just STFU.

This is the only way to solve all prejudice in my opinion...

How will the society of black lawyers earn ridiculous sums of money then though?

I'm starting the society of white football fans.

How far do you think I'll get? I bet before I recruit 30 people I get banned from grounds for the first excuse. Swearing in my case.

What colour hair do you lads have? Us blonde lads need to stick together. We're viewed as Nazi types.

Yes that does sound stupid doesn't it Kanye?

Roy shouldn't have apologised. He really shouldn't.

Dear Society of Black Lawyers

In seeking out any hint of thought crime, you are damaging the very cause you say you support. No, not yourselves. That seems to be beyond redemption. The cause of protecting the vulnerable from attack on the grounds of their race, religion, nationality, whatever.

For you there are demons everywhere. A witch finder general will find witches. You will find racists if your terms of reference are the use of everyday words in everyday contexts. You see offence because you want to; you want to point out the frailties of society but all you do is highlight your own. You lack perspective. You lack courage. You lack strength. The very qualities those who look to you for support need from you.

In short - Shut the **** up.
